Not sure if we are bouncing or what the higher pre shot today is all about... but sadly I may have given a fur shot because when i pushed in the plunger it didn’t feel like it went very far. I felt the fur in the area and it felt wet and smelled like Lantus. Sigh... that’s what happens when you’re half asleep on Sunday morning.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Well, that definitely wasn’t a fur shot since we are seeing blues. Definitely reinforces the fact that “fur shots” should never be re-shot. Hoping he goes below 150 today at nadir so we can keep the dose the same, since he seems to be doing well on it.

Today’s curve was almost identical to yesterday’s. If he was a regular cat with diabetes, I would go up to 3.25u, but given that he is still adjusting to the Vetoryl after only 3 weeks on it, I’m gonna leave him at 3. These numbers are better than what we have seen over the last 4 months, and he is not drinking or peeing excessively. I am also gonna be away the next 2 weekends, and although I’m gonna be spot checking at night during the week as usual, I won’t be able to do a full curve for 2 weeks, so I think it’s safer to leave him at 3 for that reason as well. I am mostly worried about the 12 hour window when I’m at work to be honest. I think yellows and blues are fine for him. Certainly if he goes below 100-90, I’ll go down on the dose.

@Wendy&Neko , do you agree?

That's too bad about the fur shot.

I keep thinking I can go get a second PhD somewhere and I will never make another fur shot. I seem to do them about once every 6 months. Every time, some real bad swearing, and then I feel like some of my brain leaked out since I have given hundreds of doses. And of course Leo feels bad all day afterwards - because he didn't get dosed. And he gets the Levemir smell too - it is hard to wash off.

But hey - at least Theresa and I have not poked ourselves with the needle for at least a year. So there's that!:D

Well, luckily it wasn’t a fur shot, considering he had a very nice curve yesterday. His lowest seems to be around 150, which I am fine with given his condition. Better err on the higher side in case Vetoryl is gonna start “kicking in.” Although both me and my bf agree that his belly is shrinking, and he is starting to look more fluffy (cats, dogs, and humans with Cushing’s have skinny bodies with a big bellies and unkept appearing coats / poor hair growth). His wound is also healing nicely. We expected to see those changes last, but will take what we can get.

Pricking myself with the cat’s lancet/needle is the least of my worries. I’ve gotten stuck with a used needle during surgery, and the worst of all was when I sprayed lidocaine in my eye while I was draining an abscess. THAT was gross... thankfully everyone is OK.
