Well, I'm not entirely sure when I'm supposed to post, but I know I'm on the right track with Saturday. Simon had a dramatic final week on his trial due to that big, nasty abscess. That is almost all better now. Only a small scab remains. His BG has remained green, and in fact he threw a 52 yesterday! Take that, vet who thought that 60s were "dangerously low!"

I am trying to shift to feeding every 4 hours instead of every 3; so far, so good. We leave town next week and I'm working on a pet sitter. Thankfully it can be a high school kid or college student now that there are no shots.

One question. Does anyone have tips or explanation for seborrhea/dandruff (especially on the lower back)? Simon's hair still hasn't regained it's former, silky glory. It is more sparse and dull, but maybe he is just elderly  Any experience or tips?

Have a happy Caturday!

Re: 6/23 Kim's Simon our first Saturday update!

Nice report on Simon:) I bet it will be super to be away and not have to worry about Simon. Hope you have a grea trip!

WOW - love it! and glad that the abscess is almost healed - good news. Those can be so difficult. Love the vet remark... I sometimes wonder if they ever really looks at a "normal cats" BG - my civvies routinely test in the 70-80 range - normal.

Mannie has some of the dandruff issues you describe, mainly on the lower back too. I really haven't found any solution - maybe others have. I try to keep him brushed, and use a pet conditioning wipe, which seems to help some. Mannie too is "elderly" at 15 - maybe that is part of it? dunno.... Good luck!

CONGRATS Simon on a job well done. :-D WOO HOO! Still OTJ!

Happy 2 month anniversary, Vyktor and Serryn! That is hilarious that he attacks you...is he playful or dead serious?
I have noticed that Simon is more cuddly after going OTJ. I was hoping he would get back to his old self!

He is deadly serious, just like a little kid that can't get his own way throwing a temper tantrum

Vyktor (also 15) had his silky shine back before he went OTJ but he still had a bit of dandruff for a while. It's all gone now so maybe Simon just needs a little more time.

Good to hear Simon is continuing to heal and do well. I had a 15 year old civvie with dandruff, and I started adding a couple of drops of salmon oil to his diet. It seemed to help make his coat softer and reduce the dandruff.
