I skipped her bed check (+5.5-+6) last night and I dont regret it! ;-) She was kinda grouchy and not interested much in food. It was one of those nights where it was best to leave her alone and hope for the best in the a.m. (her eating over night, no vomiting, etc). Its a 50/50 chance when I do that...we got the better side this time around.

She seems to be feeling pretty good this a.m. Another 'restless' or active overnight. Munching on kibble and me waking up numerous times to see her laying in a different spot...sometimes wide eyed and staring at me  . Instead of bee lining it to the bathroom first thing this a.m., she became my little shadow for a few minutes. This was nice to see. She did eventually station herself in the bathroom, but is being very responsive to the treat bag being shaken and getting up to eat every 15-20 minutes.

This preshot has potential for her to be blue or green today. Im gone from +2.5 to +9.5. She see's the vet for urine recheck around +10. The culture should show us if the orbax is working for the ecoli, and what is going on with the enterococcus. I will let THEM pill her a/b tonight! , and I think I will have them reshave her tush area for hygiene purposes. Its going to be hot here today and the air is not working in my car this summer. Im a little worried, since the last time I took her in a 'hot' car, she did that open mouth breathing. We are only about 1 mile away from the vet, but... :YMSIGH: I hope she will be okay.

Good start for Latte's day!

Carolyn -- if you're concerned about the heat, put some ice in a bag and wrap it in a towel and keep it in the carrier. Even better, if you have any of those chemical ice thingies, they work really well. Heck, a bag of frozen peas or corn are great!

Re: 6/22 Latte AMPS-371

I don't have air conditioning in my car, either, this summer  lovely, huh? , but, J.D. often does the panting when he's in his carrier in the car. So, I don't know if it's all tempurature related, or just the stress.

Good luck at the vet. I hope everything is improving. It sounds like she feels better.
Getting her hygiene shave is a good idea.

I just read someone posting at the same time suggesting frozen veggies in the carrier. Good Idea!!

I hope you have a good day, and tbp goes by quickly.

Re: 6/22 Latte AMPS-371

It's not very attractive when a kitty does that open mouth breathing...but I think it's their way of staying cool...isn't it? The radical change from the incise a/c to the outside heat is a shock, isn't it?
Good luck to you both today! :YMHUG:

She has had such a GOOD a.m.!
Finishing up 1 full can of food right now. Big drops, but not as big as she could have. Hanging out, looking all cat-like! Certainly wish I could be home to see what she is going to do with this. Im guessing her +10 will be quite telling.

K...gonna be late for work!

Re: 6/22 Latte AMPS-371, +2.5-217

Good for Latte! Here's hoping that all the tests will come out OK at the vet's. Stu used to like to have a bowl of ice cubes to wrap his arms around and stick his head on when it was hot (we've never had a/c, even in NYC in the summer).
Hope you both will have a really good day.

Such a nice WCR for your lovely lady today, I'm so glad she's feeling and acting better.

Sending positive thoughts to Latte for good numbers today. Best of luck at the vet. Hope you get all good reports there. That open mouth breathing is very scray. Munchkin used to do that all the time when she had to go to the vet, rest her sweet soul. It was all stress related since she even did it in the winter and we live exactly 4 minutes from the vet.
Have a good day!

I'm so glad your little lady is having a good day. Hope the vet visit goes well. Will be looking for an update.

Hey Latte - Lanky thinks you are pretty cool & he wants to know if you like to do some more of those cat-things (shadow, bug Mom, catch a bug, etc) with him...he was afraid to ask himself!

Since Latte finished an entire can of food before I left this a.m., I put another one out..just in case. She never goes to the wet when I am gone, so I figured it was a waste. At least I can say I tried, right? Sure enough, about half of it was gone when I got home. No kibble eaten! Im going to take a guess that she most likely hung out in blue a while longer than she is used to, or went green for a short while. No drop from vet stress today, but no HUGE rise either.

The ice packs in the carrier was a GREAT idea! I didnt think she would bother laying on them, but she did. Her vet asked what I had in there and was surprised that she had strategically laid herself down on top of one, and leaning against another. Thanks so much for the idea Sienne!

Just a u/a, and culture today. her vet took the time before we got there to look at her ss, which I thought was nice. He addressed things like increasing fluids, reduction of pred, etc before I opened my mouth! I dont think he really knew anything about the enterococcus bacteria, as he was positive we could get rid of it. He may want to do a sensitivity if anything grows, because he said their tests are more specific than what the U did. he spent a good 10 minutes trying to show me how/why (I think he might be right). When he kept looking at a/b's that he thought would work and saw they showed resistance on his chart too...well, he admitted to being less optimistic. :YMSIGH: He said he wanted to call the IM vet from the U and talk to him a little more about it. Apparently the IM vet is a professor, as well as a clinician, and supervises the residency program. My vet went to school there, so they know each other...and he feels comfortable talking with him. Im really happy about that. Boy, he sure is learning a lot from us! ohmygod_smile

There was sugar in her urine. He said there must have been a mistake with the way the U figured it there...they found no sugar in her urine after it sitting in the 500-600's so long. No ketones today, either.

She was naughty! She is SOOOOO over the vet. She even hisses and growls at ME while we are there now! :o I have never seen her as vocal and defiant with any other vet than ours. Poor guy! He is sooo nice! I had him pill her a/b to give me a night off. He had to call in for help. :?

Latte was perfectly fine when she got home. She cleaned one of her back legs, which I did not know she could do anymore. Guess it was a special occassion. Her butt is bare. she refused wet food and went for the kibble tonight (just a little). She seemed very forgiving, and is back in her spot leaning against the tub in the bathroom.

Should have results in a day or two.

Sounds like quite an adventure at the vet's! Feisty Latte! Keep on eating, girl, and show your mamabean how well you can do. I'm sure she's happy to be home. Have a good night, both of you!

Sounds like Latte had a pretty good day, overall. Logan sympathizes with the vet visit thing. He's definitely over them, too!
