Happy summer solstice!

Switched to Relion Prime after discovering my Freesryle Lite strips from Amazon were repackaged from overseas and got shoddy reviews on Amazon. At least I have peace of mind knowing I can run down the street to get more strips now, they’re legit, and I won’t have to spend an arm and a paw for them.

they do seem to run higher than the FL tho dammit!

It really is. Ugh, someone had suggested a place where the packaging is damaged but the product is fine - but I honestly don’t want to take chances that they’ll ever be unavailable - especially since off the shelf they’re MORE expensive than alpha trak strips!
 
I used to buy on eBay from well known sellers and used to bid for them. I used the old relion meter
which used a small amount of blood. Walmarts aren’t close so I never went there.

The new Relion honestly doesn’t seem to need much, that was my biggest worry but his ears truly have “learned to bleed” (in fact today we had a bit of a murder scene!)

my dorky self likes to see the blood get sucked up into the little chamber on the strip. Makes up for how clunky the meter is and how difficult it is to push the strip on with one hand after I poke his ear and am trying to hold it still :-)

I have the same issues with the Relion. I test Ruby sitting so I hold the meter between my knees as I poke so I can one hand the strip into the meter while I hold her ear still. At least it doesn't shut itself off too quickly. I too was really happy to find that it doesn't need that much blood and the strips are so much cheaper. I buy 200 at a time from Walmart and have them shipped because I don't have a Walmart near me either. They read lower than the Contour Next meter I was using before, so I was thrilled about that too!
 
The ReliOn Premier Classic is my preferred meter (I have a prime, too). The reason is that the strips slide in so easily that I can push them in with a single finger of the hand that is holding the meter at the same time as the one finger pushes the strip in (if I am making any sense?). With the Prime, the whole thing is so stiff that it takes one hand to hold the meter and one to push the strip in. I definitely like being able to go to Wally World to get strips and not have to order them! Hugs to Snuggie!

First black since we switched from alpha trak. I think I liked my bootleg freestyle lite strips better :(:banghead:
