Good Morning, Everyone,

It's another beautiful day here. Rusty had a good night (he did wake up in the middle of the night with a sneezing fit--I think he has allergies (the pine pollen is particularly bad this year), plus his "normal" upper respiratory congestion, which seems to flare up from time to time). This morning he had a good test, good shot, good breakfast, good lb contributions, a good play with "Red Ears", and is waiting for me to take him outdoors.

I talked to the vet's office yesterday and told them that I wasn't going to do the bloodwork on Wednesday, just have the vet look at his ears and clip his nails. His receptionist said that was fine and also said that the reason he wants to anesthetize Rusty for the bloodwork is because he thinks Rusty is hard to handle. I will tell him on Wednesday that Rusty has never had to be put under in the past for blood work. I will also find out what anesthesia he uses for a "light sedation".

Back later. Rusty wants to go out!

What? I never heard of putting a kitty under just to do bloodwork. Surely a vet tech can hold him while someone takes the blood.

Hope you and Rusty enjoy the lovely weather.

Morning! What a great start today for Rusty. Way to go! Enjoy your outdoor time Rusty. I hope Shadow shows to keep you company.

The weather sounds wonderful! We have sun today too - I sure do hope this means summer may be coming... what a slow start this year. I hope this means too that, for you, the water table has lowered, and that you can look at a DRY cellar going forward!. YAY!

Interesting on the vet thinking Rusty would be hard to handle. Would you agree with that? I just don't think he is. ?? Well good luck.

Rusty! Dude! What is up for today? What a great day - we gotta do something! ~~ Mannie

I have to be one to say we do put many cats under at our clinic for BW we gas them down with isoflurane I do not know what other vets do but if you could see how much cats struggle sometimes to have the vet hit the vein on their neck if they are really upset or growling or moving a lot then its less stressful for the cat to have light sedation then to be held really tightly by many hands while they are upset this is with my 16 yrs of being a vet tech helping vets draw blood on many cats. Great amps for Rusty

Hi, Ella & Rusty.. ouch on the allergies.. they sure suck.. I have them too! Sadi got a bit sassy with a vet once who then took the stance of sedation on visits & we took it upon ourselves to meet a new vet  kittes can get CrAzY but I am not a fan of sedation unless surgery or dental.
Anyway.. looking GRReat & I hope you both have a wonderful day!

Re: 6/21 Rusty AMPS 114

Ella,

How could your vet think Rusty was hard to handle? You test him at home!!! Rusty was quite the favorite in both vet offices I used. Not quite as good as Sorianna, but almost.

Now you need to understand, Sorianna thinks that a vet office is her second home. She lived for 3 months in a vets office with free roaming rights. She talks to everyone and thinks that she should be allowed to roam when she gets in the exam room. We just remind the techs "close the door tightly," or Sori will follow you out back.

I hope tomorrow ear exam and nail clipping goes well. Say hello to Rusty for me.

I think you should take him & see how he is reacting on being there, & to the vet before they decide to sedate..there are pills, shots, etc--When evil vet came here early in my babies lives, they were so scared of him, they needed to be sedated for everything, but in the new vets office, they were like little dolls!~!
Who knows--see how it goes--Paws & fingers crossed for an easy vet visit--We lubs you a lot!!
Will call--Hugs from Us!

Hi Again,
When we took Rusty to the vet in March for his rabies shot (and a general check-up and a nail clip) he didn't enjoy having his temperature taken or having his nails clipped. Perhaps that is what the vet remembers. In any event, we'll see what happens tomorrow.

Rusty and Shadow had a brief encounter this morning. I took Rusty out, Shadow materialized, Rusty rushed over to him, touched noses with him, and then hissed at him. Shadow then tried to engage Rusty in several games of chase, but Rusty ignored him and would not budge from the stoop. So Shadow gave up and went home!!

Everyone have a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

:-D :-D I love the Shadow encounter! Too cute. I think Rusty is establishing "his turf", and once there I bet he plays, maybe a little.

Nice low even surf for Rusty today. Well done Rusty!
