[Jan and Buddy]

Buddy had quite a weekend. Noticed he wasn't peeing Sat. morning, long story short had to take to ER thinking there might be a blockage. After many hours and alot of money, he was dx'd with cystisis.
Have him on a/b 1.5 bid Clavamox, Puralax (Generic Miralax) and making his meals VERY soupy. He seems to be doing good, ketones were negative this am. I'm just concerned about him going poop now. I've been able to catch him peeing, but haven't been able to catch him doing other. As most of you know will be a full-time Mom to him the 1st of July and planning on switching to Levemir at that time. So hoping things will go along smooth until then so I can really keep and eye and take better care. His numbers have been pretty good.

Hi Jan,
I'm going thru the same thing with my Buddy, he was dx'd with cystisis. I need to read what the difference is between that an a UTI? I knew at one time but have forgotten.

I assume the ER prescribed clavamox after determining an infection was present? Was a C&S run?

Sorry you guys had such a hard weekend but Buddy's numbers look great! Sounds like cystitis alright. And yes, Dr. Lisa's link is good too. I just started my civie, Jackson on generic Miralax last week and it's working great..and he is a chronically constipated kitty. I started with 1/4 tspn bid and almost immediately had to bring him down to 1/8 tspn bid. He's a happy little man now! How much are you giving him? Is Buddy an outdoor cat? (I mean wouldn't it be in a lb?

Buddy seems good tonight. He is peeing like a "racehorse"!! :lol: Thats what happens I guess when is meals are like soup. Going to up is Purelax (Generic for Miralax) to 1/4. I still haven't seen any poop!!
Don't want to put him in room by himself yet, will give it 1 more day, maybe the Purelax will kick in.
