Happy Caturday everyone!

I don't even remember giving China her shot this morning, or doing the AMPS, but it's pretty obvious I did! I fell back asleep and next thing I knew Miss China was batting at my eyelashes at +4! Good thing she did though...as much as I was totally comfortable and more than willing to go BTB (again) when she's that intent on waking me up to feed her, there's usually a very good reason

I'm so frustrated with DM I can hardly stand it today...all I hear from her is "the idea of eating makes my stomach churn" (she hasn't complained of ANY nausea in over a week) When I asked her what she had for breakfast, she says 1/2 a piece of bacon and 1/2 a piece of toast. Ask her about lunch and she says 1/2 a glass of iced tea. I told her yesterday afternoon that she HAS to push past this and eat. Period. She keeps saying that food makes her nauseous, and while I understand that for several days, it did, now it's totally in her head, not her stomach!

This afternoon, I'm tired, I don't feel good and I'm mad, so I don't think I'll go over there to visit, because what I want to do is scream at her and just say "Well, are you just giving up and dying now?"

Sorry for dumping on you guys, but I just don't know what else to do with her and it's driving me crazy. I asked them to have the psychologist see her, but I don't know when he's around or how often he's there...or if he can do anything in the first place to get her out of this funk she's in.

I hope you're all having a better day than I am and your kitties are being good kitties (kinda like China....LOL)

I'm glad China woke you up to test her +4. What a good and smart girl, she is.

Would your mom drink some nutricious shakes of some sort, maybe?

It's a good thing China woke you up. I'm glad she surfed safely today.

I'm sorry things are so frustrating with your DM. I hope she gets past this soon. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

China saved her best numbers for you! So sorry to hear about your mom, btw, has there been any change in her meds, anything new added? My MIL's doctor added an antidepressant Lexepro that caused horrible nausea,she has AZ and couldn't even tell us what was the matter... lots of meds cause nausea for her though. Healing vines for you and your DM and hugs!

Yeah, I'm really glad she's such a smart kitty!

She's back in the nursing home after her hospital stay Dyana. I asked her yesterday what she'd eaten and she says "nobody cares if I eat or not". I said "I do!" and just got a weak "yeah"

Now that it's the weekend, they don't have the staffing they do during the week, so it won't really do me much good to talk to the nursing staff about monitoring her intake or sending her those nutritional shakes for snacks

I'm pretty sure next week we'll be having an admissions meeting, and you can bet I'm going to have a lot to say about it, but it still just makes me mad that she seems to not even try

She hasn't complained of any nausea since the first couple of days in the hospital Ruth...that was last Sun/Monday...since then, she's not complained of any...she just says "thinking of eating makes my stomach turn" and refuses

She HAD been sick for about a week, with nausea/vomiting but they put her on Zofran and that helped a lot. I'm sure that what's going on now is the association her brain made when she was sick and she just isn't trying to push past it.

She's literally eaten nothing that I know of other than that bacon/toast yesterday morning, and half a cup of jello in the hospital last Wednesday morning.

The hospital psychiatrist added an antidepressant to her meds last week too. Zoloft if I remember right

Sorry to hear about your mom feeling so down. I wonder if the Zoloft is not agreeing with her. Or maybe she is just run down and tired or afraid that she will fill sick again. Is she disappointed that she is in the nursing home rather than her apartment? I know you do so much for your mom. It must be so frustrating...I will keep her in my prayers for a change.

OK now China...that's far enough.....I really am not in the mood to stay up all night tonight (but of course I will if you insist!)

Catherine, she was just put on the Zoloft last Monday night...the nausea that started all this started about a week earlier and she hasn't complained of any nausea since she was put on it.

I really think that when she really WAS nauseous and thought of food, it made her feel even more sick and even started her stomach churning...then she got to the point where she wasn't eating anything because of that fear and now it's not in her stomach at all..it's all in her head

Chris, I'm so sorry your DM is having such a hard time, and therefore so are you. I do think it's probably in her head - she's depressed that she's back in the nursing home, she remembers how miserable food made her feel last week, and she probably feels like there's no reason to try to get better. I think that's pretty common for someone in her situation. I hope you can find a psychiatrist or counselor that can talk to her. Try not to get mad at her. I know it's frustrating for you, but she really can't help it right now, I think. I'll bet, underneath it all, she's scared.

China is certainly enjoying some lagoon time today, isn't she? For once she does not seem in tune with your needs. China, Cinco was so good for us today and surfed blue. You don't want him to make you look bad, do you? How about you come up some so Mama can get some rest tonight? I'll bet Cinco will meet you half-way, if you want him to! ;-)
