I read back a bit and saw you had a vetty visit, albeit not a great one. Any chance they are running some basic lab work for as much as poor Simon had an awful blood draw? You’ve noted quite a few instances of gulping/ vomit spit, and now more recently over the last several days not finishing food or not interested in food. I’d suggest to continue to watch for inappetance, and signs of nausea like he has done, as well as licking lips, sniffing food and walking away.

Hope it is just a temporary thing.

Thanks for taking a look Christie! Simon had some basic bloodwork a few months ago when he was initially diagnosed with diabetes. The vet pointed out that most of his other levels (like kidney function) were in a good range. But he wasn't eligible for Bexacat - if I remember correctly, his pancreas levels were a little off. Maybe I'll follow up and ask about the possibility of pancreatitis.

Simon has always had "gulping" episodes before he vomits spit. He drools when he purrs, and after long purring sessions he'll often start gulping and spit up a small bubble pile of spit. Recently it's been happening in the morning when he's hungry and excited for his food. Over the last fifteen years he has rarely ever vomited food. It's always just a bit of spit.

I do think he's had stress or nasea this weekend. We're traveling, and I gave him gabapentin for the car ride. Yesterday and most of today he barely ate, and I wonder if it was because of the gaba. This morning he did sniff his food and walk away. But for dinner tonight, he was super hungry and started eating his food immediately. Simon is usually a slow eater in general, so I'm glad he was hungry and in the mood to eat tonight. Maybe I'll hold off on the gabapentin for the car ride home, I think it hit him too hard
