Morning ~O) ~O) yesterday wasn't too bad a day bg wise for Maggie! I was happy with today's AMPS. I left less overnight food, and I'll keep experimenting on the food and times. All is well with little Maggie, good appy, good use of the lb. I heard Mags chattering up a storm two hours before it was time for the alarm, so I picked her up and carried her to bed and was surprised to find her next to me upon awakening. Usually I only get 15 minutes of her staying in bed. I've been using the lancet pen that came with my new Relion Confirm meter, and its working out better than using just the lancet itself. Lately Mags has been jerking just as I'm ready to poke, and she also jerks just as I have the strip on the spot of blood. I think she's getting tired of this sugar dance. :-x Wishing everyone a nice day and keep cool for all with the high temperatures today. Drink lots of water.

I could go one of those btbs with you Maggie - love Vyktor xxx
Vyktor ;-) any time you're ready! Love, Mags

Hope you slept better tonight Ann - have you thought of trying tea!!
Hi Serryn, thanks did sleep better last night, and I'm finding a couple short btb's do help. Herbal tea sounds like a good idea, too, thanks!

Re: 6/20 Maggie AMPS 155 AT

Nice start to Maggie's day. Ann, you sure are up early this morning!

I like using the lancet pen much better than the lancet. Simon tends to jerk his head the last second and I end up hanging on to his ear with all my might.

Glad you got some rest last night and to wake up with Mags cuddling in the bed must have been extra nice.

Re: 6/20 Maggie AMPS 155; +3 120 AT

Great start for Maggie today! The noise of the lancet pen scares Tarragon so I have always free handed. I'm glad the pen is working for you. How sweet that Maggie decided to sleep with you for a couple of hours. Have a great day Ann!

Re: 6/20 Maggie AMPS 155; +3 120 AT

+3 120

I just had the cutest zoom zoom from Maggie after she did a LB deposit! She jumped up onto the sofa arm and then ran across the top of the sofa and jumped onto the recliner. I have a small apartment, so everything is close together.

Georgia, yes, I don't always have a firm grasp of the ear and sometimes need to use another strip. Thank goodness the new AT strips swipe easier and smaller sample blood.

Re: 6/20 Maggie AMPS 155; +3 120 AT

Hi Melissa, we were posting the same time. This pen that came with the Relion Confirm barely makes a sound which is great. My old Relion Micro pen made a pop sound. Just lately Mags has been jerking. I should use the other ear, but it's like writing with my left hand when I try that method.

Re: 6/20 Maggie AMPS 155; +3 120 AT

  Oh Vyktor - you are quite the ladies man... :-D

Morning Ann - a very nice start for Maggie today. nice on the lancet pen - I've never tried to sue what came with my meter, always just poked free hand. Mannie just sits there anyways.  And I so hear you on using the other ear... it's just a no go for me, like you said - writing with the wrong hand...

  on the zoom zoom. Maggie you are quite the athlete! :-D You did good last night Maggie, sleeping with your bean and all. well done! Us beans really like that stuff, so keep it coming.

Enjoy your day today Ann. I hope it is a good one.

Re: 6/20 Maggie AMPS 155; +3 120 AT

Very nice start today for Miss Maggie - always the character with her chattering and zoomies!

I've always used the lancing pen...I'm afraid I'd knock Trix out trying to freehand it! I'm surprised at how many people do freehand, though. We do use both ears...since I'm right-handed, the left ear IS easier, but I've gotten used to twisting my arms around to do her right ear, too.

Have a wonderful day, Ann!

Re: 6/20 Maggie AMPS 155; +3 120 AT

Hi guys .. a nice start to the day for miss maggie .. I'm glad you are having better luck with the lancing pen .. we always used that with mocha .. thankfully testing never bothered her .. now shot time was a different story! Have a great day guys!

+5 117
It looks like a nice surf today for Maggie!

Hi Devon, yes much easier for me with the pen, too. Now the shot is the easy one. Maggie just sits on my lap all calm waiting for her shot. :-D

Hi Amy, that's great you can use both ears, as it gives one ear a rest.

Hi Michelle, I do love her zoom zooms; for her age she is quite the runner. I think it must be half and half here with the lancet and pen.

Re: 6/20 Maggie AMPS 155; +3 120; +5 117; +10 185 AT

+10 185
A little bit of a bounce! I should have kept quiet about a nice surf. Mags was starving at the +10. so I thought maybe she was low, sure fooled me! It was feed me, I'm still hungry even when high!

Re: 6/20 Maggie AMPS 155; +3 120; +5 117; +10 185 AT

Still considering the AT, not a bad number. I could never aim the pen properly so I just use the freehand method. on less thing to fiddle with! We use both ears too, and move around the edge. Tess ears never seem to get irritated.

Love the zoom-zoms. We've been getting them from Tess lately too!

Hi Ann!
I got an email from ADW about the new Alpha meter. They've sent me a coupon code to get a starter kit for $60. Do you want it?

Also, it says this about the strips...
If you choose not to upgrade, you can continue to use your original AlphaTRAK® meter with the new AlphaTRAK® 2 test strips; however, you must use CODE 7 for all species. Please note: when using the AlphaTRAK® 2 test strips with the original meter, test results for cats remain accurate. There is a 9.7% negative bias in dogs. This bias falls within the ISO standards of +/- 20% variance set by the FDA for glucose meters, and may not impact your veterinarian's treatment decisions. For the most accurate AlphaTRAK® test results, we recommend that you upgrade to the new AlphaTRAK® 2 meter.

PMPS 252
I guess a bounce! confused_cat

Hi Ann & Tess, the 185 was not too bad, but this 252!

Hi and thank you so much. I have the same offer from ADW. It still seems like my numbers may be slightly off even when I use the Code 7 new strips with the old meter. Of course, I guess it may be just Maggie having a blip, too.

Re: 6/20 Maggie PMPS 252 AT

Oh, Maggie, now you had such a nice morning, lets see if you can get back there some tonight.

Re: 6/20 Maggie PMPS 252; +3 161 AT

Hi Ann. I thought I was looking at checkers numbers, for a moment. Nice blues today for Miss Maggie.
Checks has been jerking his head away lately too. I'm afraid one day, he's gonna rip his ear.

Re: 6/20 Maggie PMPS 252; +3 161 AT

Hi Ann & Maggie,

That PMPS is a bit unusual. It may have been a bad test. I have always used the lancet device because I think it does the prick much faster and more uniformly with regard to depth than I could do it freehand. Good luck with the new AT strips/meter!

Thanks for visiting us when we were away. Happy Summer Solstice. Keep cool!

Hi Ella, yes, the PMPS is a little strange and I think it could have been a bad test. I should have tested a seond time. Mags had jerked away, so I kind of let it go w/out a second test.

Hi Barb & Checkers, I guess they both are getting tired of this dance with jerking away when ready to poke.
