Yesterday's Condo

First, thanks to everyone who visited my condo from yesterday to wish us well today. I'm sorry I haven't been able to post until now.

Cinco apparently doesn't pay close enough attention to China. She always surfs in nice safe numbers, like blues or yellow, when her Mamabean has to be gone. Cinco gave me a huge shock with his AMPS. Then he decided it was a good day for a swim! I was a bit panicked, but he seemed to want to surf, so I fed him well, loaded up Otto, and prayed. Fortunately, he seems to have stayed fairly flat and looked at me like, what are you worried about? when I rushed in from the track and did a quick test before we went to get Sasha.

We spent the first part of today at the racetrack, then flew by the house, dropping off some racing stuff and testing Cinco, before heading for UCD. The traffic in that direction is always a killer on Friday afternoons, as people from the SF Bay Area are headed up to Tahoe and Reno. We managed to make it to the Vet Hospital five minutes ahead of the scheduled time. The vet student, Amy, that has been caring for Sasha, went over the summary of treatment and discharge instructions with us and answered our questions. Then she brought Sasha in and the surgeon came, too. We got everything answered and Amy said a loving good-bye to Sasha. She kept telling me she didn't want Sasha to leave. I offered to let her catsit the next time we want to go somewhere! I don't think she took me seriously!

I sat in the back seat, next to Sasha's carrier, and I opened the door and was petting her when she got up and crawled out and into my lap! She stayed there the whole way home and did not so much as drool! (I had taken the precaution of telling Amy not to feed her anything past breakfast). She had on a soft e-collar - plastic-coated paper. Amy said the t-shirt hindered her walking. I might try the tank top in a few days. When we got home we set up the cage we have from when Cinco first moved in. We put it in our room, since that's where she spends most of her time. We put her in it with a very low litterbox, one of her beds, and some water. She seemed fine. Minka and Harvey had both come up to the carrier while we were setting up, and exchanged sniffs with Sasha. No hissing or issues. Once she was in the cage and settled, I moved around, tidying up the things that had been displaced. Then I heard hissing and growling and turned to find Harvey fleeing and Sasha sprawled in a puddle of urine in the cage, and her e-collar off! She was still hissing, and when I reached in to try to get her up, she hissed and bit me, hard, on my finger (OW!!!) :o  Mark came in and chased Harvey downstairs. He helped me get her out - she tried to get away. I cleaned her off the best I could, but the e-collar was soaked. I got out an old plastic one and put it on. We put her in the carrier to calm down while I cleaned up the cage. I was terrified she had done some damage, but once she calmed down she looked okay and wasn't tender anywhere. After an hour or so I put her back in the cage. Harvey is now banned from the bedroom, which is going to be difficult, but I can't think of anything else to do. I don't want to put her in the guest room all by herself, so I'd rather Harvey be unhappy than her.

I have to go feed my poor birthday boy. I'll post more later. Please keep the prayers coming that this all works out! I don't think I'll sleep tonight for worrying about her!

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans.

Re: 6/20 Cinco AMPS 116 PMPS 154 +2.5 100 Sasha Home!

(((Tricia)))

Sending healing vines for Sasha and just a big hug for you.

I hope you and Mark had a nice birthday dinner.

Thank you all for the hugs and vines.

Cinco is now giving me a lovely low blue surf. Good boy, Cinco!!! I hope he repeats this tomorrow for me! It helps me sooooo much to not have to worry about him! He got extra scritches with his last test.

I feel like this is a nightmare that I can't wake up from. I just gave Sasha her Bupe and Pred (almost done with that - no sneezing!) and eye AB. She just looks so pathetic. The soft collar had dried out, so I put that on her in place of the plastic one she hates. I'm just worrying about her tomorrow, when we'll be gone for about 7-8 hours. I know she'll be "safe", as long as I leave the bedroom door closed with Harvey on the outside, but I hate to leave her alone that long. We look forward to this weekend all year, and now I'm wishing it was over almost before it began!

We had leftovers for dinner. We had planned to grill a tri-tip, but we were both too burned out to make much effort. We'll do the steak tomorrow night, when we should get home earlier. DH doesn't care for making a big deal about his birthday, so he got his wish this year - he was overshadowed! He loved his cheesecake, which he only gets once a year, so he was happy!

I'm sorry I haven't visited any condos today. I'll try to do some tomorrow night, but this weekend will be tough. I am thinking about everyone in LL and wishing you all green and blue days and nights!

I'm so happy to see that Sasha is home. It always amazes me how cats react when one comes home from the hospital. The hissing makes no sense but it always seems to happen. Don't forgetbtobtske good cats of that bite if the skin was broken. I hope things settle down enough for you to get some sleep.

Hi Tricia,

((((Tricia)))))) I am glad Sasha is home. I will pray for Sasha. She will recover more at home with you. This was a rough day. Hopefully, tomorrow will be smoother.

:YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: I'm sure you had a heart attack when you heard the hissing! I hope all has calmed down now. I know you are immensely stressed, but Sasha is now on the road to recovery and she is in such amazing hands with you as her beans. We're sending tons and tons of quick healing prayers and calming vines for all of you....

I'm so glad Sasha is home. I hope everyone will adjust to her being there and settle down quickly. I hope your finger is okay. I'm glad your DH enjoyed his cheesecake.

Just keep reminding yourself that Sasha is home and is doing well and you'll do a great job of taking care of her like you do all your furbabies. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Hi Tricia,
Thinking of you, and Sasha, and Cinco and the other kitties. I'm so glad that Sasha is home and very sorry that you had such a traumatic episode right away. I'm sure things are settling down now and that Sasha will have a speedy recovery. Lots of vines for her today.

Happy birthday to your DH!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

So glad to hear Sasha is home with you! I am sure she is very happy about that too!

I know it'll take time, as it did with Jupiter, but Sasha will adjust and each day she will get better at walking. When we first brought Jupiter home... he couldnt walk at all... he actually like hopped backwards and kind of freaked out a little when we tried to help him. I wanted to bawl my eyes out seeing him struggle. I just kept telling myself that I had to stay positive for his sake and just tried to help him when I could.. eventually he figured it out. And you saw how well he gets around now.

I am not sure how her balance is... but it may help a little bit if you can elevate her food and water bowls...Jupiter had a really hard time eating with his cone on...so we elevated his food bowl so his cone would fit around it and he could get his mouth to his bowl then.

Not sure if Sasha would let you help her... but you could always try gently picking her up, putting her in a litter box, and gently supporting her to help her balance herself so she can try to pee in her litter box.

I dont know if anyone else may have mentioned this to you or if your vet may have mentioned... but you may want to give Sasha a little bit of miralax daily in her food while shes on Bupe. Sometimes pain medicine can cause constipation and this may also make it a little easier for her to go.

You sound like you are doing a fantastic job taking care of Sasha. Stay positive for her. I am always here if you need anything. *hugs* You and Sasha are both still in my thoughts and prayers and I hope she makes a very fast recovery and adjusts quickly.

So glad to see Cinco is doing great and that Sasha made it home safely! sending lots of healing vines and hugs for her and you and your dh.

Vetty smell! The KTSS will be over to get that nasty vetty smell off and then everyone will be happier. You are doing a super job, Tricia. DH, too, and on his birthday! Enjoy your day at the track tomorrow. Your kitties will be just fine.
