Re: 6/2 Tiggy AMPS 212

Is it hot today up there where you live? Up to 86 F here in coastal Massachusetts. Thankfully, there is a nice sea breeze today.

Yay on the no yowling last night. Are you getting some play time in before bed to tucker him out?

DH tells me Tiggy has bad diarrhea today in the litter box ... I immediately started him on flagyl .. This happened last time a few days after he had to go to the vets.. Must be a stress thing I guess..

Whatya doin' up there Tiggy? That's Neko's territory? How about sliding down some tonight? And while you are at it, no howling either.

Sorry about the liquipoo, hope the flagyl works quickly. The IGF test is run over two days at MSU. They start spinning it on Thursday and produce results on Friday. I heard the results from my vet on the Sunday. I heard about the IAA on the day before - they can run that test any day.

My vet is being kinda weird about the IAA and I can't get a straight answer from him. He said their lab doesn't do IAA only IGF-1 so did I want him to look into doing IAA? And we went round in circles by voicemail and email about me asking what the deal is if they both have to go to MSU anyway.

Anyway for now he has the blood on ice and we are doing IGF first. If that is negative we do IAA. But I am thinking many cats have both? But does it matter? Do I need to know about IAa if acromegaly is confirmed?

Wendy

The saying is that "acromegaly trumps IAA". In other words, it's a lot more important to know about the presence of acromegaly. Not everyone gets both tested. I've also read that IAA is something that can go away over time. The IM vet at CSU thought Neko had beaten down IAA by the time we got there. ETA: So I've basically don't nothing to treat the IAA.
