Morning and Happy Father's Day! This morning all the P's are in place, except the play time will come later. Maggie is a sleepy head this morning and food wars are on, too! I tried the Special Kitty chicken again, and she laps up the juice but leaves most of the bulk. I don't think her teeth could be bothering her this soon after a dental. Are any of your kitties like Maggie, whereby they suck up the juice and leave the bulk? Have a nice day.

My cats are being picky these days, but then I look at myself and realize that when it is this hot, I don't want to eat much either. All I want is fruit. Is it getting hot there?

Hi Libby, thanks for stopping by this morning. No, actually it's not hot here yet, very comfy weather and in the high 60's and low 70's. We will start mid week to get into the 80's. My apartment stays on the cool side until the late afternoon when I get the west sun. I see her eating more bulk when her numbers start getting low. The only thing I can think of is she's taking in more water, and the Vet said her kidneys are working harder, as she's stage 2 kidney disease. We have not changed her diet yet. Have a nice day.

Yes, mine laps up the water and leaves the bulk. I think it depends on their mood (cats? Moody? No way!). Sometimes he'll eat more if I heat it in the microwave for 10 sec or if I change flavors. Sometimes he'll lap the water, go away, and then come back to finish the meal. I don't know, they're just weird sometimes. Today he was making a new sound and it turned out he was trying to chew his canned food.

BTW I lived in SoCal for 10 years, first in LA and then Irvine. Totally miss it!

Hi Ann,

I have a kitty who will lap up all the juice, leave the bulk. More often than not she will come back later and finish it off.

Hi MauiGuppy, so you have a kitty lapper, too; nice to know there are others. Yes, you have that right - they can be weird sometimes and keep us guessing. I bet you do miss Calif. I've been here since early 1982 and thought I'd return to the east coast, but I'm still here. Part of our wages is in sunshine. :-D

Hi Michelle, so one of your civvies does the same. At times Maggie will return and eat the bulk, but mostly she looks up with those sad eyes and says "open another can; I wanft fresh!" :lol: Maggie just told me she would love to come to Rusty's for some sun, as we still have clouds.

Yes Leo laps up the gravy i make for him first, leaves, then he always comes back to finish up the rest. Never fails.

Cali huh? Sounds so nice, sunny all the time, warm all the time too. Must be nice! Lucky girls!

Hi Maggie, Yes, come over to my place today and tomorrow, too. We'll chillax, patrol the garden (the catmint is in bloom), play with the Shadow kitten, and maybe do some grillin' if I can find anything in the 'fridge to grill.

Hi Ann, Thanks so much for your thoughts on anesthesia for bloodwork. I'm going to ask my vet on Wednesday what kind of anesthesia he uses. With Stu he put him under, but only for a couple of minutes. In any event, we're not going to do the bloodwork until the fall. There is no pressing reason. I just wanted a baseline.

Hi Tracy, I guess these cats are quite alike the way they eat their fuds. Maggie just now came back for some of the bulk.

Hi Ella, that's good if you can wait until the Fall. I can see why you would want a baseline on Rusty just to see for yourself about his bloodwork.

Hi Rusty, I'm on my way with Mannie and Zoe and the others and can't wait to meet Shadow the kitten. I'm bringing some wild salmon patties that we can grill for the party, Maggie

What a very nice blue surf for Maggie today!!!! So she's just lapping the gravy eh? I bet it is the heat. She's sleepy and doesn't have much appetite...sounds like me....uh except the appetite part :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hi Marje, yes, she's just lapping the gravy today for some reason. The 180 is a bit of a food spike. Maggie was being so picky all day and all of a sudden wanted to eat about an hour ago, so I hated to deprive her. She will come down in a few hours after her shot.

HI Ann......Maybe adding a litte chicken dust to her meal will entice her......I have to do that w/Curry when she just drinks the juice or water added to her Merrick BG.
