Yesterday's post: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17496
Hi everybody. Sorry I didn't get back yesterday but every time I sat down to try and post I just didn't know where to begin. I couldn't get my thoughts together in any way that made sense.
First of all Tori came through the procedure just fine. I was kind of worried that because of the location of the lump they might have a hard time intubating her but everything went OK. She has about an inch long incision in her neck and 3 stitches. Of course Doug had to shave quite a bit of fur off so she doesn't look quite like herself. She recovered from the anesthetic well and in fact was kind of restless when she got home and oh so hungry. She wanted at Ayanna's supper so badly. They had a bit of a tug-of-war over a bun she was eating. Poor baby just couldn't understand why she couldn't eat as much as she wanted. Anyway I'm rambling.
Doug spent quite a bit of time with me when I picked Tori up. He really cares for my little girl and said how special she is and called her Queen Victoria. Anyway he got a couple of real good specimens. He described the lump as an encapsulated mass with fluid inside of it as well which he said is rather unusual. Then he laughed saying that Tori has never done anything typically. It could be 3 things. First off it could be a lymphoma. If it is it would probably respond well to chemo and she could have at least a year. The second thing would be an adenosarcoma. Those respond poorly to chemo but well to radiation and could possibly result in a cure. Problem with radiation is that it is very expensive -$6,000-$8,000. ALso we would have to go down to Calgary for it. It isn't done in Edmonton. The third possibility and it sounds very unlikely is that it is benign.
I feel like someone has stuck a knife in me and is twisting it. I am probably able to swing some chemo for Tori but like most people there is no way I can afford the kind of money it would take to do radiation treatments. Realistically would it even be reasonable to try it. Tori will be 14 years old on July 1st. She has the diabetes of course and then Chronic Pancreatitis as well. I just don't know. The thought of withholding something from her that could cure her because I can't afford it just kills me. So i guess I am hoping for lymphoma or of course the lump being benign.
The biopsy has to be sent to Toronto for some reason so the results will be back in 3-5 business days so probably the earliest i will here anything will be next Wednesday. It's going to be a really long week.
Please keep my baby in your prayers. Do you think we can pull off one more miracle?
