Question: Is it normal to not have something, other than the cap, covering the area the needle goes into to withdraw the medicine?
I used a brand new pen yesterday and there was nothing covering it. Same as the last pen. I could have sworn the first one had something I had to remove--kind of like a new tube of toothpaste.

On this brand new Pen (3rd one of five), plus the last Pen, had nothing, but the cap covering the Pen. I could have sworn the first Pen ever used had a protective covering that I had to remove (like a brand new tube of toothpaste, there's something you have to remove before you use it the first time).

I'm not sure how else to explain this.

I got what you mean. I use Levemir pens and have never had a protective covering.
 
Kinda sad today...
I recall accidentally sticking myself with a Lancett, and going ahead and getting a BG on myself. Don't recall that number, but it might have been elevated... probably wasn't in a fasting mode.

But yesterday, I had another accidental stick. It was 133. Prior to that I took Liothyronine & Estradiol (they taste like sugar), plus two maca powder capsules.
Tested today, before anything, but water... 144!

Labs earlier this year in January, fasting glucose was 107. It was above range. Whaaat? Labs two times a year for at least the last 11 years, and they are always normal.

Had the virus, October 2021. There are many studies/articles indicating this is a cause.
