Happy Monday LL

Today is Daphne's first day on a real diet. I know I said it in the past, that I was putting her on one, but I would, for a day or two, and then give in to her big appetite… Too bad I can't pass on some of her appetite to some of the kitties in LL who need a little. She just needs to lose a pound. I think it can only help with her arthritis. I'm only cutting 1oz a day for now. She is 15.4 lbs today. I may have to adjust that amount as I see how she handles this.

This coming Friday she will have new blood work, and then start her on the Adequan. If anyone has any experience with this, (I know a few people already, who use it, with great results), I would love to hear about it. I know it takes a while to start to work, and that's ok, because it's summer here and so the heat and sun will get her through, and then in the fall, the Adequan should start to work. Thats my plan anyway, and we all know how that goes. Kitties have their own plans, all we can do is try.

Sending vines to all the kitties and beans who need them today.

Nice numbers Daphne:) Good luck with your new diet. I hope shedding a pound or two will help with her pain:)

Good afternoon Barb & Daphne!

I hope the plan for Daphne to lose a little weight will help greatly with her arthritis and pain. Just remind her the reward is what makes it all worth it!

It's a hot one here today, 90 as of right now. We're suppose to have storms come through tomorrow and Wednesday, which will leave us with a nice weekend hopefully. Until then it's a/c and big glasses of ice tea!

Thanks Tamara and Reagan, I know this diet is not making Daphne very happy, but I can see her little legs almost can't carry her big body so easily these days. Too bad I can't show her a picture of herself, that always works for me. :lol:

Keep cool, the AC will be on at our house in the next week. We will get some relief by the end of the week I think.

Hi Barb. Boy I hate how the weather affects our babies. Checks hurts when it's rainy/gloomy.
I hope the Adequan helps Daphne. Checks isn't a good candidate for it.
You think she will miss a teeny ounce? Hehe, she reads this condo, you know. :lol:

Awwww poor Daphne, i hope she loses some weight soon, since it is bikini season and you have to look good Daphne!! :-D Good luck with the diet Barb and don't cave even if she gives you the pitiful "i'm hungry" look.

I hope all goes well with the vetty appointment and adequan.

Good luck with Friday's vetty appointment, and with the diet! A few in my herd, including Trix, could use to lose a bit...diets - and being strong enough to not give into those big round eyes - does add a fresh new level to all of this fun stuff! Hopefully Daphne will adjust to her new portions and once she realizes it makes her feel better, she'll be OK with it.

Hi Barb - nice day for Daphne! There is green in there. Good luck too with her diet - I need get Mannie to loose a few - I can never seem to get those extra pounds off....

Good luck with the adequan. I wish I could remember who it is here that uses it. I hope it will help Daphne.

Barb, so funny, yes I do believe they all read these condos. I was curious, if you know, what would make one kitty a candidate and not another? I know it doesn't work on spine arthritis. I don't know much more then that.

Tracy, thats always the problem, I cave when I see those pitiful eyes. I'm going to be strong this time, I promise.

Amy, yup, it is going to be a challenge, not to give in to her, I just have to keep saying to myself, she will feel better.

Michelle, I know Amy uses it for Mario. I am going to post in Health also. I pretty much know what I need to. I have to make sure I get it right though, I can't count on this vet since she never used it on cats. She's the traveling vet, and it saves Daphne a ride in the car, which she is so terrified of. So I have to deal with what this vet knows, and of course, I do all the research, which FDMB really does all the work for me most of the time, thankfully!

Hi Barb, thanks for visiting us and good luck with the diet for Daphne. We can also add Maggie to the list of kitties who are a bit fluffy and need to lose a pound or so! What a nice stream of numbers for your little Daphne. I am always so impressed with her, and if she does have a high number always recovers quickly. Yes, thank goodness for the coffee kiosk saved me this morning. :-D Have a good night and good luck with her upcoming Vetty visit and start of Adequan. I've seen where several kitties are on it and doing well.

Ive noticed some of my gang loose weight after the change to scheduled canned meal instead of free fed dry knibbles since 4 mths ago. At least the waist line started to come out.
I think a scheduled meal is better to control on the quantity they ate unless you give in to their asking for more. But honestly, seeing them more slim instead of being porky does make me feel uneasy! :lol: That's definitely the reason why there are so many overweight human kids around town! :lol:

What nice numbers Daphne has today! Good luck with the diet! Racci needs to lose more than a few pounds. I haven't had much success. I hope you do. I'm counting on you to show me it can be done. :smile:

I hope the Adequan works for Daphne and good luck at the vet.

Great Numbers today!! Proud of you both!!
The only one who is the right weight here is Moonie!!! We know what diets are like, but they help in the long run!--Moonie will also be going on adequan, so maybe we will do it together ;-)
