I expected a bounce after his 38 low number 2 nights ago, and know that it can take up to 72 hours to clear a bounce, but I have NO clue why Pumbaa had a black 515 for his PMPS tonight. He hasn't had a black number since 5/20/12.

Even with his high numbers tonight, he's very active and feisty! That is a good sign to me.

Any input on this black PMPS is welcome, as I just can't figure my boy out!

Just to get the obvious out of the way...

Fur shot?
Old or "damaged" insulin? Does it look okay?
Bad batch of test strips? Test yourself to make sure the meter and strips are good?

No fur shots for ages.
New insulin pen as of 6/11/12, and it looks fine.
Test strips - only have about 6 left in the bottle and they've been good so far.

This doesn't appear to be a mechanical problem, because I would have noticed that immediately (I think) upon changing pens or test strips. No?

Good points to consider, though, Carl, and I thank you for that!
