6/16 Recap:

There is no better way to finish my shower, than to open the curtains to the sight of Neko, white belly side up on the bathmat, begging for cuddles. :joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful: I even got a little leg lick for my troubles. She's in a good mood today, and now so am I. :) But it's back to the solarium for her now - a girl's gotta get her rays.

Yup, still sunny here. The showers that were listed in yesterday's forecast for Friday have disappeared from today's forecast. We native Vancouver people are getting a bit edgy with all this sun. And worried about the gardens and forests.

It`s been pouring all day here in usually sunny Calgary, expecting more of the same tomorrow. It`s unusual for Vancouver to have such a dry spell, isn`t it? Strange weather patterns these days...
Glad that you started your day at the sight of Neko, looking for tummy rubs and cuddles. She's sure enjoying the solarium while she can. Vancouver will hopefully get some rain soon....

Sunny here after 2 days of rain......I was surprised to hear you get forest fires in Canada. I know US gets them but I didn't know you did

Splish splash, she's in the lagoon. :D She had a good visit with Mr. Air Compressor Tires early this afternoon too. For those who haven't seen the reference before, DH has an air compressor downstairs and Neko LOVES his rubber tires. She rubs against them, leans against them.

Lori, Peg, Bron - Happy cat, happy bean. It's been very strange weather. Driest spring in 40 years and not much snow pack over the winter. We live in a fire interface zone, just a couple minutes walk from the forest. Usually this month is referred to as Junuary because it's so wet. @Bron and Sheba - some of our firefighters go down to Australia to fight fires down there in our off season. The biggest one in our province is currently 25,000 hectares.

That is very interesting about fires in Canada. I never thought of them being a problem there.
And WOW how great they come down here to fight fires.....when they are bad we need all the help we can get.
We live directly opposite a national park so have to be alert for fires every summer. We get terrible fires out here and all have evacuation plans. We have sites we can go to on the computers which have updates on all the fires, esp local fires and the status of them. When the fires are bad, the TV and radio just spend their time giving updates etc and who should evacuate.
Interestingly our prime minister lives just across the gully from us ( a very bushy area of national park) and he is a member of our local bush fire brigade......has been for years before becoming PM. He still takes his turns fighting the fires. He is a real community person. ( he is also a surf life saver at Manly Beach and still takes his turn).

I wish we could send you some of our rain. I hate to hear of your glorious forests in peril. They are also having very bad fires in Alaska.

Neko is looking good today.

Sorry to hijack Wendy`s thread, but oh yeah, we sure can get some huge fires up here. We have so much forest land; thankfully, unlike the U.S., they`re mostly not in highly populated areas. But it`s a shame when fires are started by human carelessness, rather than natural occurrences such as lightning. Most of the summer in Alberta, we have a slight smell of smoke in the air from the fires burning up north or out west. I was reading about the fires in Alaska, how sad. Alaska is so beautifully natural and full of vast forests.

End of hijack. sorry Wendy

Good girl Neko- think Green! That's so cute how she stalks you in the shower, but I can't understand the tire attraction !:smuggrin: Our "showers" are supposed to come Friday, hope the weatherman is right!

Sounds as if Neko has had the perfect day doing what she likes best, strange about the tires though. I can't stand the smell of rubber as it brings back memories of the gas mask at the dentist when I was a child.

Morning Wendy :):):)

GREEN! WTG Neko! Surf well today too.

oh my yes on all this sun, love it, but we too are beginning to worry about the lack of rain, and the forests. etc...

Have a great day today!
