Hi everyone! Frank has been seeing great BGs lately! I've noticed that Frank acts happier, is more interested in being around, is basically more active when he is about 80 - 100 ish. He seems to sleep and disassociate with his Beans when he is lower than 80ish. Until now, I've thought 50 or above is fine but I think Frank is more comfortable at about 80. I don't think I see any hypo symptoms, other than sleepiness, when he is below 80, but he sure does seem most alive above 80. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Are you using a people meter or an animal meter? I ask just out of curiosity, since I have heard that people meters tend to run a little low. So perhaps an 80 on an animal meter would be a 60 or so on a human meter, and the #s would line up better with what you've been striving for (>50).

Buzz almost never plays and is not what you would call a fun-loving cat, but I have noticed that the times when she is most affectionate and what you might call playful, she has been around 100. Like Frank, she doesn't exhibit any signs of hypo/discomfort when she is lower than that, just something I've observed. Perhaps you are onto something.

I will agree with you. When mocha is on the "lower" end of a normal non diabetic number, she sleeps a lot more. When she's sitting around 100 she acts like a wild woman!

Sarah, I use a human meter. I know I have thought about the accuracy of the meter...wondering, is he really 40 if he shows as 60? Although, I use a one touch which I believe gets high rating for reliability.

Frank sounds similar to Buzz...not a player or fun-loving putty, but he does have his moments. I love those times when he is happy and light.

maybe "normal" varies from cat to cat........?

I guess that's why we say "ECID" and why there's a range of numbers for "normal" rather than just 1 number. They like to keep us wondering, I think. ;-)
