I posted this earlier, but I think I was on the old server and not many saw it. I cannot find the original post now, so will re-post this ? and hopefully it doesn't show up twice. I saw Jaime's response, but my apologies if others responded...I just don't see that post anywhere.

I'm just looking for some advice on her numbers. First off, overall Ebby seems much happier on lantus. She is less lethargic and her clinical symptoms have probably reduced by about 50%. And she is acting more like her old self again.
I'm pretty sure this 565 is a bounce from her sharp drop last night. She went from 224 PMPS to 131 at +2. Of course, when she bounces like this, she is back at the water bowl and frequent visits to the litter box.

I think I need to focus on slowing the onset, but don't know the best way to do this. Should I try MC food at +1? Also I'm giving shots normally at 11:30 at night, so to get up and feed at +1 or +2 is a little hard. Of course I would do it, but sometimes think I could use a little more sleep these days. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks, and sorry if this is a re-post for some.

That 565 might also be because of the 95 Ebby saw last night. She did the same thing on June 14 after the greens the night before. It looks like she likes to do her diving early. You are correct that food is the way to manage that. How do you currently feed Ebby? Many people divide food into small mini meals, and feed at PS, +1, +2 and possible a +3 to try to slow down that dive. You don't want to have to resort to MC as a standard process. Many people here have automatic feeders for the mini meals.

Looks like Ebby is diving again today. That's a fast drop to that +3. Nice to see the bounce resolving fairly quickly.

Ebby currently free feeds. I pick up food 2 hours before shot, but other than that, I just leave food down. I do make sure she eats some with her shot, but maybe it is not enough. She's never been a big eater.

We have another cat in the house who gets very disturbed when his food is not there when he needs it, (and he seems to need it every 20 minutes!) so free feeding is almost a necessity. I could try the smaller meals. I agree about the MC food...especially when we're trying to keep those carbs out.

Yeah, when she's in those blacks it's a little comforting she comes down so quick. It just about kills me to see those numbers.

I have a kitty who can be an early diver. Like Wendy suggested, I "front load" the cycle -- I feed at pre-shot, +1, +2 and +3. It does seem to slow things down a bit.

What % carb food are you currently feeding? It may not be a matter of resorting to MC but depending on how carb sensitive Ebby is, you might be able to feed a LC food (i.e., under 10% carb) that's higher in carbs than your current food. I agree that you don't want to jump to MC food. Some cats, though, do better on a LC food that is a littler higher in carbs.

I am feeding wellness chicken (4%carbs.) Sometimes I feed wellness core canned, but can't figure out the exact carb content. Some things I've read say it's higher (8%) others say it is lower.

I picked up some fancy feast classics (8%) so will try feeding these at shot time and +1, +2. If the bounce is from her diving too quick hopefully this will help. If it's from just seeing those green numbers, I guess there is not much we can do except wait it out.

Thanks Sienne and Gabby! That's what I was looking for. I couldn't remember where I had seen it. I downloaded for future reference.
