Help!!!
She is 76, and it's time for the AM shot.

Yesterday's

Hoping someone will be available to give me an advice.....
I'm stalling now because her number is lower than normal.....
I wasn't expecting this because her numbers were slightly increasing after the PM shot last night.
Otherwise I would have checked her +10 or +11....

I'll check her again in 15 min....
I need help deciding if I can shoot or not...

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76 // STALLING

Good plan to re-test. Just to make an observation.... You've shot numbers in the 70s and 80s before. Unless this is a dropping number (and I mean a substantial drop), you should be fine to shoot if you have strips and HC in the house and are going to be around to monitor.)

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76 // STALLING

Thank you, Sienne.
I have 100 strips, HC and I will be home all day today.
Nest test in 5 min....

Sienne, after you mentioned Lucy may want a reduction earlier this week, Marje also advised me hold HC unless she drops in 40's. If I keep giving her HC when she is 50 or higher, it will work against her if she wants a reduction.
So, for Lucy, I will give her HC only if she goes 49 or lower, correct?
And sorry... I can't remember, what is the number for the automatic reduction?

She's not there yet, but maybe today is the day...

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76 // STALLING

OH NO!!
She is dropping, and I think it's a big drop....
She is 65 after the previous test.
Stall and test again?
How many minutes after?

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76, 65 // STILL STALLING

15 min after the previous test is 59.
Should I stall longer or shoot and monitor.

I'd like to shoot and feed her unless you think it's dangerous.

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59 // STILL STALLING

You should maybe put up the ? with Help? or Please look again? in your subject line. Sorry for the nailbite_smile nailbite_smile nailbite_smile

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59 // STILL STALLING, NEED HELP!

OK, I'm putting the 911 icon again...

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59 // STILL STALLING, NEED HELP!

OMG.
She is now 41.
I'm skipping.

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59,41 // SKIPPING

Good call on the skip. Lucy gets HC now! And Markio gets chocolate. Feed her HC and test again in 20. Come on up now Lucy.

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59,41 // SKIPPING

I just gave her about 2/3 portion or her normal LC meal.
Will test again in 5 min....

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59,41 // SKIPPING

Come on Lucy, you can climb that mountain for Mama Bean! You're doing great Mariko!!! :thumbup Hang in there nailbite_smile You know you're in good hands :YMHUG:

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59,41 // SKIPPING // 41

She is still 41, 30 min after eating 2/3 of her breakfast.
I'm feeding her the rest and a bit of HC...

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59,41 // SKIP&FED // still 41

WOW, Lucy...way to wake up your MamaBean! Congrats on the reducie. I would have skipped with that 41/dropping number, too. Hopefully a little HC will get her back up to the 50s and she'll set up a surf. Remember to feed slowly, so her tummy doesn't get upset! Without insulin on board, I would imagine she'll respond fairly quickly to the HC. And, as I'm sure you know, don't be surprised if she does a bit of a bounce tonight and/or tomorrow, but as Lucy has proven, she'll get right back on track quickly!

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59,41 // SKIP&FED // still 41

Congrats on the reducy!! Looks like Lucy's Mr. P is really starting to work again :-D

Re: 6/16 Lucy AMBG=76,65,59,41 // SKIP&FED // 41,68

Lucy is coming up a bit... it's now 68. Phewww.
I'll stop feeding her now since I didn't give her any insulin.

Thanks, Amy.
I wasn't sure if I did the right thing skipping a shot.
I'd glad to know you would have done the same. I feel better about the decision now....

Thank you, Jane, Sienne, Linda, Mary, for your support.

This is not exactly how I wanted Lucy to earn a reduction.
I wanted her to give me a reduction worthy number somewhere in the middle of a cycle, so I didn't have to skip a shot right before the new reduced dose, but oh well.

I have a question.
I'd like to make sure I do this right since this is her first earned reduction.
She's been getting 0.75u.
And I'm supposed to put her on 0.5u starting from tonight, correct?

So she earned a reduction, but her number is going to come up quite a bit by tonight's preshot time since I skipped this morning's shot.
Plus she may bounce.

I just want to ask you and make sure....
No matter what her PM preshot number will be, I am to shoot a reduced dose of 0.5 unit starting tonight?

Mariko

Since you skipped, if she goes up...and she likely will...if you can afford to be off schedule, I'd shoot early with the new .5u dose. If you can't afford to be off, I'd still shoot the .5u dose.

Sometimes when the depot is so full it takes a bit to drain it....even skipping might not entirely affect it if its really full. I wouldn't want her to come right back down on you tonight after the last few cycles you've had.

Although it is different because I did not need to skip a shot, I did not shoot through the bounce last night...I gave the reduction because of such a full depot. It's important to keep that in mind on dosing decisions.

If she fails the reduction, you can always take her back up. You both are doing great!

Thank you, Marje,
I'll do whatever the best for Lucy.
So, please explain to me again.
Her normal shot time is 6:30.
What time should I shoot her tonight?
And tomorrow morning?
I want to eventually bring her back to 6:30 schedule.

How does this sound?
I'll shoot her at 5:30 pm tonight.
6:00 am tomorrow morning.
6:30 pm tomorrow evening.
Does this sound good?
Or do you mean way earlier?

How's Lucy doing tonight? Did she zoom up, or keep it pretty flat?

I usually try to keep my shot shifts to half an hour per day - sometimes I shift 15 minutes at each shot time, and sometimes I do 30 minutes at one shot time, but I never personally have shifted a whole hour in one day. I hope that makes sense. That doesn't mean making such a shift wouldn't work for Lucy, though...ECID (every cat is different). Did you shoot at 5:30? (I'm sorry...I have no idea what time it is in your time zone!) Your plan sounds like it would probably be fine, since Lucy responds so nicely to Lantus, if that's the route you decide to go with.

Hey Mariko-

I know you sent me at least one PM, but I can't access it right now (and it may possibly be lost in cyberspace for good...I don't know). The board is being transitioned, so things are a bit quirky...I'm not even sure if you'll see this post here, because I know I'm having some issues with posting and seeing updated condos right now. I just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you! I hope you guys are well...
