Yesterday's Condo

Wanted to get a +2, but went BTB, and slept through my +2 alarm ohmygod_smile

Cleo has a good appy, and 4 P's in place. She is now BTB herself :-D

Happy Dad's Day to all our Sugar Daddies!! Some of them are the "behind the scenes" heroes to our furbabies dancing_cat

Well.....your vet is and isn't right about kidney values and high protein diets. Kitties that eat a high protein diet may have an increased BUN but it doesn't affect the creatinine which is the number you would be most concerned about when looking at renal disease. Even with increased BUN, it isn't that elevated.

Marje, On 4/5/13 Cleo's BUN - 30mg/dl
CREA - 1.3mg/dl Both normal

Her only abnormals were: Glucose 496
RETIC (?) 131.4 K/ul Normal range 3.0 - 50.0
ALT 192U/L
CHOL 235
TT4 0.6 ug/dl <0.8 ug/dl subnormal

I would not change her diet without consulting this board. I tried very hard to not make my vet feel like I did not value her opinion, but on certain things, her opinions carry less weight ;-)

Hi Kat, We will probably be testing shortly! I am hoping Cleo wanders out on her own. If not, I will have to look under the bed and tempt her out!

I love what you said about respecting your vet's opinion, but taking it with a grain of salt... I'm in the same boat. It's a fine line, for sure! Thank goodness for FDMB.

Had two bowls ready, one with plain HC & one with HC + 3 drops Karo. Only gave the plain. Will test in 30 minutes. Should I go back to LC after next test?

That was strange, got signed off, maybe it was a switch to the new server.

Good job Jane. If you are above 50 at the next test, you may want to see if she continues to rise without additional food. I'd still continue to test though to make she doesn't turn back around.

+4.5 44 Dropped a little, gave her 1 1/2 tsp MC. Should I give her HC? Opinions welcome!

I'd give HC and maybe even a couple of drops of Karo.

She is eating 1 tsp gravy food with 3 drops karo in it right now. I will test again 30 min. after she finishes?

I only fed her usual test treat (1/2 tsp FF Appetizer). Should I offer her more food? Or wait to see if she drops/rises without food for next test?

I'd wait for the next test. ( 30 minutes)

her usual pattern seems to be +4 or +5 for nadir from what I'm seeing. So she might be getting there on her own soon......

the ff appetizers are low to zero carb so you'll know soon.

I agree with Rhiannon. You want to see numbers now that aren't food inflated.

Cleo went and did a #1 and #2 after her last test/treat. Everything in the LB!! She is back in her sleeping place - I am sure she does not want to see me again tonight- :lol: She has been so good with all the testing. And my other guys behaved too - And I finished ALL of my ironing!!

+6 63 Just gave her FF Appy testing treat. So, a little rise with no food influence. Good, right? Test in half hour?

And should I leave out her regular LC that I normally would at night?

Liz, If I don't make myself do something, I feel like I will pukus!!! :-D

Yes, good :smile: I would test again, maybe even another time after that depending on your numbers, and yes leave food out before you go to bed.

I need to get to bed, will you be ok? I can set an alarm to check back if you want.
