Nice slide into the greens Trix

Sorry about those sniffles.. All our guys have Corona virus and herpes (my daughter bought Logan at a pet store  )
so there's often someone sneezing etc. Hope it clears up soon (without the "joy" spreading)

Yeah, we have herpes and calici around here. Our one kitty, Frankie, is a rescue, and when we adopted her we knew she had herpes. Her corneas are pretty severely scarred from it, so no one wanted to adopt her. We couldn't resist...she's the sweetest thing ever. However, as a trade off, we periodically have snuffly cats now. Fortunately, we're pretty used to it, and we've only ever had one round where things got pretty serious with all 5 of them (before Trixie joined the mix).

Sorry to hear Pete is snuffly. That is no fun. Poor guy. Hopefully no one else gets it.

Trixie is looking good today! What a nice +2. Hopefully she will surf all day.

Hi guys .. love that the extra drop did wonders for trixie .. these numbers are fantastic! Sorry to hear about your sniffly kitties .. hope it doesn't spread to everyone .. have a great day guys!

OT: How did you have your kitties tested for herpes? Was it done on symptoms alone? Also, what is calici?

Both the herpes and calici were pretty much diagnosed on symptoms alone. Frankie had a very serious eye infection/ulcerations when she was 3 weeks old (long before we had her; we adopted her at 4 months). Since she's a rescue, the rescue group did have the funds for "official" testing. However, we did take her to a veterinary opthemologist (I can't spell that!!!), and he said the ulcerations and scarring were classic herpes.

Calici is just another virus that causes upper respiratory infections. It also causes arthritic-like symptoms, especially in kittens. Shortly after we adopted Frankie, Noah - also 4 months at the time - developed the URI with limping. Based on the symptoms, and the timing of Frankie's arrival in our home, Calici was the diagnosis.

Both of those viruses are covered in routine vaccines, but in our case the vaccines didn't prevent them....

Flatness so far this evening...that's OK, I'm too tired for excitment anyway.

Petey is still snuffling away, but no worse than this morning. So far, no one else has joined in. Thank you for all the healing thoughts!

I'm still in shock over the devestating news about sweet, sweet Tessie Lou. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Sandy, Tessie Lou, and their family...

Amy: gorgeous A.M. cycle for Miss Trixie cat. I hope Pete will feel better soon...sending him some healing vines. Boy, you do have your plate full. Poor little Frankie...she's so lucky to have you. Think what might have happened to her eyes if you hadn't adopted her.

Hope you get some rest. It is indeed, a very very sad night in LL.

Trix did have a lovely morning.

Frankie had a very lucky start, even before we stepped into the picture. The vets originally thought she was blind, and there was talk of euthanasia, because she wasn't getting better. But one vet in particular pushed on through. Her scarring is so bad that we couldn't even tell what color her eyes are for the first 5 or 6 years, yet she still could actually see - not clearly, but she could see. All I can say is that everyone who passed her over at adoptiond days because of he eyes were huge fools. She is the happiest little cat ever, even though her eyes constantly water and have to be uncomfortable. I think cats like her appreciate life so very much, and she certainly lives it to the fullest. She's 8 now, and still as playful as she was at 4 months!
