Got all this typed up once, hit "submit" and lost my Internet connection. As far as I can tell my condo did not post...so I'm trying again.

The specfpl test came back positive for pancreatitis.

Topper is feeling better, ate his +6 meal all by himself. Still feels feverish to me. Is no longer breathing rapidly or hanging his mouth open. No vomiting. I hope his numbers come down next cycle...

Will talk to vet again early Monday morning, he thinks he is going to put Topper on a round of Orbax to follow up the 4 day Penicillin shot he had on Thursday, because of the high white blood cell count showing an infection.

Is there anything I should ask when I talk to the vet? My mind is blank.

I want to thank everyone for all of the advice, support and compassion over the past few days. I really thought Topper might be dying and it was so good to know you were all here!
 
Here's Marje's primer on pancreatitis.

Typically, an antibiotic isn't needed for pancreatitis. However, it may be that Topper has an infection going on, as well. The key "ingredients" for treating p'titis involve a medication for nausea/vomiting. Usually ondansatron/Zofran or maropitant/Cerenia are prescribed. Some cats do well with famotidine/Pepsid if there's no vomiting and the nausea seems intermittent or minimal. Pancreatitis is painful so a pain med -- buprenorphine ("bupe") is what most people here will ask their vet for. Once the nausea is under control, if Topper isn't eating, an appetite stimulant is helpful.

Because most kitties feel awful with pancreatitis, eating is a huge issue. Basically, let Topper eat whatever he'll eat. Foods like rotisserie chicken or boiled chicken, if Topper likes them, are fine. Baby food is a favorite of many cats. If he'll eat his usual food, that's fine. Bottom line, though, the insulin dose can always be adjusted to compensate if all Topper will eat is a higher carb food.
 
Thank you Sienne, the vet had already prescribed Bupe and Cerenia, he said to continue treating the pancreatitis with those and the subq fluids.
Would I give him these meds all the time?? Is it okay to give Pepcid daily? I've read it should not be given regularly.
 
I just want to say I'm so glad Topper is starting to feel better. I've been thinking about you guys and am happy to see an update. Many prayers still coming your way, Jan!
 
I'm glad Topper is doing better. :-D Someone here was on orbax recently, i think it was Maggie of Ann and Maggie, but I'm not sure Great job with taking care of him. Sending tons of vines for him.

I hope Topper will continue to improve and that he'll be A1 again soon. Lots of healing vines for him tonight.

If Topper is not having an acid tummy, I'd probably hold off on the pepcid AC because you've got fluids, bupe for pain, cerenia for vomiting. The pepcid does not address nausea. The cerenia might help but usually the ondansetron (zofran) is better for that. Normally cerenia can only be given for five days consecutively before you have to take a break on it.

How's it going with the fluids?
 
When Gabby was diagnosed with pancreatitis and when she was having bouts of tummy troubles, she was taking Pepsid for up to 2 weeks and maybe even longer. Before it was standard to give either Zofran or Cerenia, Pepsid was the go to medication for kitties with pancreatitis. You might discuss with your vet whether it's OK to give Pepsid along with the other meds that Topper is getting. Pepsid doesn't have a great number of interaction with other drugs but it does interact with some antibiotics.
