Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

Morning guys! Got SOME sleep- not enough

I was doing my FOOD homework and have some questions! I was under the impression that ALL FF "Classics" were LC food. I have been on Dr Lisa's page (just printed out 35 pages!) along with some others. I may have yet another major screw up on my hands.

I cannot find the CARBS for the following foods: (ALL FF CLASSICS)
Tender Beef & Chicken Feast
Tender Liver & Chicken Feast
Tender Beef & Liver Feast

I did find Tender Liver & Chicken = 8.63 ........

And BOTH the Tender Beef Feast & Turkey & Giblets are 5.45% - is that too high?

Basically, I have been feeding a variety of ALL of the FF Classics to now see they are not ALL really LC.

In recap, it seems like I should JUST be using:
Chopped Grill, Cod/Sole? Shrimp/Chicken/Salmon & Shrimp/Seafood/Ocen Whitefish/Savory Salmon/ **** and since I am not feeding fishie more than twice a week - that doesn't leave much.

Can someone advise please. Aren't I SUPPOSED to keep to 4% and under?

Oy!

B

I choose foods that are all less than 8% ....

Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

here's my shortcut list you can easily print .
it has other varieties on it and it's where I picked everything off of Dr. Lisa's list that was 8% or less.
shortcut list

hope it helps..

Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

Low carb is considered under 10%. Most of us feed considerably lower carb than than -- around 5%, give or take. The FF "Classic" pate style food are in that range. Cats also vary with respect to how carb sensitive they are and that can be a factor in how they respond to some foods.

Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

Yes...once you get the dry matter basis or the as-fed numbers, you have to plug them into a calculator (or convert manually) to get the %calories from carbs. That's what Dr. Lisa has already done for the ones she lists.

Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

Thanks Captain! I am studying the food and wanted to be extra sure what ALL the "Classics" were. My boss told me to do homework! And I did - glad I have back ups of ink! Printed out 30+ pages just from Dr. Lisa! But I do recycle :-D :-D :-D

Little Missy didn't surprise me this morning! Will be testing her soon and will post. Hope Gracie was a good girl for you. Maybe if we got them a texting plan it would take their mind off their numbers and sort them out! But then it would be "wait mummy, can't test now coz I'm busy texting Gracie" Wonder just what those texts would say!

Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

I feed Lucky Freskies and 9 lives it's had to look at the list but Lucky can go high just looking at the can.
Only ones that don't rise him is the salmon but he can't eat that everyday,9 lives does have chicken.

Good luck on your choices.

Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

Thanks for taking to time to reply! .....hummm - don't show Lucky the can then. huh?

Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

I swear he wants to eat me i the morning, less carbs maybe mol, he is so carb sensitive hard to feed him anything

Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

what do you mean by "carb sensitive" .... remeber, I'm a newbie - still have my training pants on

Re: 6/15 Tashie AMPS=530 FOOD QUESTION

Jill's Alex is a "carb sensitive" cat. Jill can feed Alex a zero carb piece of chicken and Alex's BG will bump up 30 points. Basically, carb sensitive implies that even with LC food, the kitty''s numbers go up more than you'd expect.
