Thank you all for listening yesterday. Today is another day, and we'll pick ourselves up and chug through it.

My sister is coming into town tonight. She'll be here to watch the cats while we are on vacation next week. Geesh, a vacation right now doesn't seem quite right, but maybe it will be good to get away....

Orange today is at an AMPS of 80. I think he's been doing really well on the new food. I haven't seen him drop into the 40s since the switch and his AMPS numbers have seem to come down a little.

We're leaving Sunday morning so over the next few days I'm going to be writing up instructions to leave for my sister on dosing/testing/posting. I'm thinking right now I'd like to leave him at the 0.1 unit dose while I'm gone, but I'm up for input if maybe he should be lowered for her?

Nice AMPS for Orange today!! It will be really good for you to get away. I know your heart is hurting and you don't feel much like celebrating anything, but you definitely deserve a break. Still thinking of you and sending lots of hugs your way!

+3 = 59

Grrr.... lower than I like when I have to leave for work. He was eating when I left and I put more food out, so I think he'll be ok - he doesn't tend to drop a lot after +3.

Yes, my sister will be able to test. She will be at the house pretty much 24/7 while I'm gone. She has zero experience with a diabetic cat - she hasn't seen Orange since before his diagnosis. I have from tonight until Sunday to teach her everything she needs to know though. Orange won't give her any problems - he'll sit still for anything.

Here are my thoughts....

Show your sister how to log on here. Teach your sister how to test and shoot. Make absolutely certain she understands how to draw a 0.1u dose. Leave her a sample syringe with colored water/juice in it so she knows what to put in the syringe. That said...

The next green pre-shot, start an OTJ trial. Orange's numbers have been very consistent and largely very green for almost a week. Hopefully, all your sister will need to do is to test at AMPS and PMPS. However, if Orange's numbers start to creep up, your sister will know how to shoot.

(Remember, you could always use an empty syringe to let her practice poking or she can practice on a piece of fruit. Oranges -- and no, I'm not being cute -- work well for that sort of thing.)
