well, his diabetes is definitely in check- smooth sailing in the green!

his lack of eating because of the antibiotics is driving me insane!!!!!!!! angry(2)_cat
i stopped and picked up some more of those freeze dried chicken treats. and found some salmon/shrimp ones as well. i can't find those other foods people have mentioned- though i was just at walmart! i'll try to get to the pet store later today to see what they have. i actually gave him chicken baby food from a syringe this morning because he wouldn't eat anything. he was NOT impressed. managed to get about 1 tsp. UGH!!!!!!! grr_red grr_red grr_red

Hopefully you can find some food that he will eat in spite of the antibiotics.

Sorry Timber is not wanting to eat because of the ABs. I hope you can find something he wants to eat.

Congrats on Day 9! Timber is looking good.

YAY TIMBER!!!
Almost there! now Please, munch up your fuds! I'm so sorry Timber's not interested in food. I keep FF fish and shrimp feast, flaked in the cupboard. A little of that on top makes most anything disappear. Lots of good tummy vines coming your way.

Have you tried Fancy Feast Turkey & Giblets Classic? All the kitties seem to really like that one. When Rusty had pancreatitis the first time it was the only thing he liked to eat.

DAY 9 already!! Go Timber!!

ok,i'm trying not to freak out over the 37 tonight!!!!!!

anyways, Timber barely ate anything today. i went and got some different foods to try. i got Blue Wilderness because it said it was high protein, low carb. he ate it!! but now i can't find it on any of the food lists to see what the carb content is!! given that he's so low tonight i don't think we're in any danger! but i'm curious- i don't want his numbers to start getting high again because he's eating too many carbs! help! :dizcat

I believe that Blue Wilderness is part of the Blue Buffalo line of cat food. If you look on p. 34 of Dr. Lisa's list, she said:
A customer service representative provided carbohydrate values over the phone. Note that, despite being “grain free”, all of the canned foods are high in carbohydrates, including the ‘Wilderness Wild Delights’. The only diets that appear to be low in carbohydrates are the ‘Wilderness’ pate varieties - Kitten, Chicken, Turkey, Salmon, and Duck. However, I will not use or recommend products from any company that refuses to provide ‘typical nutrient analysis’ data for their diets.

Chance are that the Blue food is higher in carbs than you'd really want to feed. So, no more Blue for Timber!

though, i did buy the pate ones- turkey, chicken, and duck. i just want to get him through the next few days until he's off the antibiotics! confused_cat confused_cat confused_cat

Have you been through the entire list Dr. Lisa has to see other foods you can get in Canada that are LC?

Don't worry about his BG....he's not getting insulin. We've had other members with cats in remission that will toss a 30 something number out there.

Hope you can find something, Maria.

i'm not sure that i have the full foods list. i googled because i couldn't find the link on here! anyone happen to have the link?? :-D

What AB is timber on? Tess couldn't tolerate Clavamox, but when the vet switched her to another she was fine. Several other cats get upset stomachs for Clav too. Any vomiting? Have you talked to your vet about anti-nausea meds?

From an old list I had the Blue Wilderness was 2%, but that doesn't mean that the carbs haven't changed since. Right now the important thing is that he eat, and w/ a 37 BG even if it is a little higher carb it won't be too bad.

he's on clavaseptin- i assume the same one you're talking about. he's only thrown up the few treats i've tried giving him. the food is staying down ok. maybe i'll ask about a different anibiotic. poor kitty

marje- thanks for the list!! :-D
