I liked that pm+11 better than that AMPS - guess I shouldn't have fed him...I know, I'll just quit feeding him and we'll see pretty numbers.... :lol:

Today I salute my GARDEN! Every day I get 4-5 small pickling cucumbers, 4-5 okra pods (only 7 plants) and have eaten 3 tomatos. There's about 50 on the vine but they're all mostly green. It got too hot too quick for them to ripen like they should have. My cucumber vine just amazes me - it's HUGE. Did you know that we actually eat cucumbers before they're ripe? They truly ARE still 'green'. When a cucumber ripens, it turns bright yellow! It also kills the vine....if just one turns, the vine thinks it's finished it's job. I learned this the hard way a couple of years ago, lost a beautiful vine.

I keep resolving to start a veggie garden and every year I wait too long. I hope I'll get one in in time for the fall/winter. I'm in Dallas, so probably similar to you on the heat!

Hi guys,
I didn't know that about cucumbers. We've never had a veggie garden, but we do grow basil, rosemary, and oregano in our tiny greenhouse (actually a build-on to the garage that a former owner made). We tried tomatoes, but without success. If we grow stuff outside the deer eat it!

Sunny KT!! We have been getting lots of cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, beans, black eyes peas. I didn't know that about the cukes. We always eat ours green.

Your vega garden is wonderful Lyresa!. We have to pay loads to get what the hawkers claimed to be "organic home grown" vege around my area. We dont have any green growing inside the appartment but there are people staring to make use of their balcony or roof top for a small vege garden growing.
The cucumber mentioned, is that the big cucumber? Chinese use the big yellowed ones for boiling water to drink, it has a very cooling effect on the body. Bring out the excessive water from your body & makes you less tired during the summer time.
