Yesterday recap: amps~217, pmps~265, +3.5~86

Off to the onc vet today for consult. Tuscany is fairly pathetic. You know she still bobbles a bit. Now with the limp and when she sits she holds up the left paw - she bobbles even more. Still has a great appetite and the LB - we are back to just an occ pee on the pad instead of multiple in a day - I think the steroid is wearing off.

Today is our wedding anniversary. I have my dps coming in to shoot tonight as we will be out - hopefully sailing. DPS will also be here sat pm and sunday as we have an across the state grad party to go to.

Re: 6/11 Tuscany amps~260, +7~91 VET update

Well, back from the vets and the news is as I thought it would be. Not good. The paw alien is most likely a sarcoma - either a soft tissue sarcoma or synovial sarcoma. This is based on the oncologist experience, the feel of the mass, the location, the xray showing some displacement of the bones in wrist from the mass , some early signs that the bone is being destroyed now and the fact that the aspiration at my usual vets was thick and not very cellular- she said fairly characteristic of sarcoma not to show much from aspiration.

That said - I did ask about local debulking of the tumor. She felt that with Tuscany's health issues and age and the size/bone-joint involvement - that it wouldn't be a good choice. That surgery on this tumor wouldn't give her more time, might cause the tumor to spread faster and may have healing issues. DH and I had pretty much come to that conclusion on our own anyways. She also said that these tumors are usually not responsive to chemo or radiation.

When I asked what I could expect both time and symptom wise - She said the Tuscany will probably fairly soon will not be able to support weight on the leg. (pain wise and destruction of joint). The paw may start to swell from the tumor compressing on the blood vessel and lymph canals. She also said that these tumors are usually fairly aggressive and spread to the lungs easily. Tuscany's lung at this time look good - but to watch for increasing difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath when trying to move around.

So, I guess we spend some time with her - we might have a few months. And then we PTS when her QOL gets worse.

I obviously have very mixed emotions. I will be sadder as this progresses. We are realistic enough to know that she has had a good long life and the end was going to come sooner than later. I will not miss the DM, the testing, the late nights, the time constraints...... Guess eventually this will be her way of going OTJ. When the time comes - if the video gurus are willing - I'd still like to have an OTJ party - seems like it might be a good way to honor my kittie.

My mom is here right now - got to go. BBL if I get a chance. Sorry for such a depressing condo today.

(((Joyce))) I am so sorry to hear that you and Tuscany are going through this. Did the vet say if amputation would stop the tumour from progressing? This would be a very difficult choice, of course. Sending many hugs to you.

(((Joyce))) I'm so sorry. Pamper her, love her, for as long as she has. Also remember, cancer kitties are allowed to have anything their little hearts desire - if there's a favourite food, let her have it. Dote on her. (((hugs)))

I'm so sorry Joyce .. I know this is not the news you wanted to hear, I can't imagine any of us wanted to read it either ... I pray that the time you all have together will be good time, without too much pain or discomfort for tuscany. Again, I'm so sorry.

(((Joyce))) I'm so sorry to hear this news. I also was wondering about amputation, since her lungs still look good. Wishing you all peace and comfort and many snuggles in the weeks and months ahead.

((Joyce))
I am so sorry to hear the news today.
Love her up and enjoy every minute as I know you will.
I am absolutely certain that the "video gurus" will put something together for you and your sweet girl.

I don't even know what to say. (Tears) I know how much you adore Tuscany. Whatever she wants -- feathers, treats, time in the garden...

And yes, you, DH and Tuscany deserve to celebrate her life.

(((Joyce))) What terrible news to get on your anniversary. But I hope you can find a way to enjoy your evening.

I'm sending healing vines and energies to Tuscany. I hope the tumor is slow growing and that you will get a lot more quality time with her.

Joyce,

I was so saddened by the news about Tuscany. I know you will make the best of the time that you have left with her. I'm glad that shes got you and DH as parents.
I know thats one video where there won't be a dry eye in the house.

Go and love your Tuscany.

(((((Joyce))))
I am very sorry to hear the news today.
Poor Tuscany... (tears).... sweet little thing!
I agree with the others.... the cupboard is open for her... unlimited goodies!

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear about Tuscany's sarcoma. I know you are heartbroken to have to face this. ((((Joyce))))

... Guess eventually this will be her way of going OTJ. When the time comes - if the video gurus are willing - I'd still like to have an OTJ party - seems like it might be a good way to honor my kittie.
This brought more tears. I know Diahann would love to do this for you and I'd be honored to collaborate.

((((Joyce and DH and Tuscany))))

Take lots of pictures and love her as much as you can. So sorry for the news. I hope you have lots of time left.

AwwwwJoyce, Im so saddened by this news...as I know you are just devastated. It took me a while to respond because I just wanted to make it better, but know I cant. Your attitude toward her progress and challenges has always been admired by me. And, its no doubt it has kept your sweet girl so incredibly happy with the time she has had here. Keep this attitude going. Brave and loved, as I say to Latte...most important things. Tuscany is a strong example of that, as are you.

You will all be in my thoughts each and every day. May there be many more good days to come.

((((((joyce))))))) (((((((tuscany))))))))

oh no! I didn't know Tuscany was having some difficult times. :(
(((hugs)))

How old is she? Can't they take the arm off and get her one of those kick A$$ kitty scooters? Boy I can see that getting in and out of the LB :D So, maybe that isn't such a great idea. ;)

Tuscany is so so so lucky to have you as a kitty mommy. (((hugs)))

((((Joyce)))) I am so sorry for your bad news. Here's hoping for a SLOOOOW growing mass, and as much quality time with your precious Tuscany as possible.

Joyce, I'm so sad to read this. Is there a holistic vet near you? I wonder if homeopathy would slow down the growth of the tumor. It helped Little Gray for a few months and, I think, made him more comfortable. Sending you and Tuscany hugs...

(((((Joyce & Tuscany))))) So sad to hear your news. We know that you and your DH and Tuscany will have many good days together and that when the time comes she will let you know. She knows how much you love her and that you will do what is right for her. She is a beautiful and brave kitty. Sending a bouquet of healing vines.

Tell her funny stories about the old days, read her poems, gaze into her eyes, tell her we all love her.....
(((((((((((((((((((((((Joyce, DH, Tuscany)))))))))))))))))))))))

I would be honored to do an OTJ party for precious Tuscany.

((((((((Joyce and Tuscany))))))))

I wish you and Tuscany a peaceful transition over the next several months. I think your OTJ video idea is wonderful.

Oh Joyce....I wish we could all help you take this away...to make it go away and not be there.
Tuscany is so lucky to have such a strong and loving Mama...I know you will treasure the time that you do have now.
Sending love to you all...sweet Tuscany..... :YMHUG:
