I'm so happy to hear that Rory is eating again. That can be so worrying. He's doing really great and recovered very nicely from that missed shot. And you got back on schedule. :-D

yup he is surfing and Im trying hard not to feed him again .. he is bugging me a bit, I think he wants food.. he only ate half a can of bff.. its the size of fancy feast

where is everyone I gave Rory some fancy feast sliced chicken in gravy.. I hope it picks him up since it is so early in his cycle!!!

How about putting a ? in your topic? You are doing fine. The 60's are a safe number. And you are giuding Rory with food. Someone more experienced will pop on soon.

How about testing 30 minutes after he last ate. It gives the food time to work. Good job!

Jane is right. He is totally safe in the 50s and 60s. Just feed him a couple good tsp of LC food and retest in 30.

he is at 65.. 1 up and I had given him sliced chicken in gravy and he licked the plate.. I think he would eat more if I tried... hoping that is. I would rather keep him a little on the hungry side

I will check again in 10 mins about.. every half hour sounds good, the food may not have totally kicked in because I gave him a second helping since I only go by the tsp

Oh oops.. we posted at the same time.. he got about 2 tsp but not at the same time.. he was still searching the house sniffing so I gave him a bit more.. I didnt give him a ton for dinner either

So you got the 65 and then you fed?? How much total since the 65 and when did you feed the last?

no he got 65 after fed... now he is up to 70 and Im keeping some of the fancy feast sliced chicken and gravy out for him. I think his system is coping better with it although he really dosent like it.. he does like the chicken pate one but I wont give him that one since it is carb free... he had it at supper time at 5pm

65 and 70 are almost the same number, within meter variance, so he is surfing. :-D You can probably test again in an hour.

We don't normally feed the food with gravy unless they are below 50, or dropping really fast early in the cycle. I think Rory is getting close to wanting a dose reduction. He's been spending a lot of time in nice healing numbers. Do you have any food with a few carbs in it? Something 3-8% carbs? Just a few carbs will sometimes help them surf.

I thought the stuff I gave him was fairly low.. I just got grilled, slices and also the chicken medley stuff you mentioned.. I cant read the print though because it is shiny foil lol. I usually just give him tuna and it seems to be good. I have several BFF chicken, lamb, salmon, beef, duck and they dont have gravy..

he is now at 85 and just ate a bunch of cat grass.. his tummy is probably bothering him now, this is what happens when I feed him the gravy stuff. I bet he wont eat in the morning now :YMSIGH:

the chart you gave me says bff contains 2% carbs is that too little.. Im guessing so.. but they dont have the pouches listed and they are the lamb, beef, chicken, salmon and duck ones. they are new

I can give Rory Fancy feast chicken pate it says the carbs are 4 and that is what I fed him earlier tonight.. he likes that one

The BFF are all around 2%, so good low carb, not carb free. Some cats do better with slightly higher carb, but so far Rory seems to be doing well on what you are feeding him. He could probably have a bit of that LC now if he wants and he's probably good for the night.

The elegant medleys are still fairly high carb, just not as high as the ones with gravy. Unfortunately they still have some wheat gluten in them. It's hard to find a good food they like. I usually have the Food list from Dr. Lisa on my phone when I shop at the pet store.

Unfortunately manufacturers are coming out with new flavours all the time, so it's hard to keep the list updated. None of them list carbs, and they list "Guaranteed Analysis" which doesn't really mean much, it's the "As-Fed" numbers that are needed to calculate carbs as a percent of calories, which is in Dr. Lisa's list.

Left some out for the night.. about 1/4 of the can left and about the same of bff lamb.. only 5 hours until his shot... aprox, if I can wake lol
goodnight and thanks very much.. I think I finally understand the food carb ratios now.. he is 95 now
