She stayed in the high numbers all night, as far as I can tell. Some bounce...

Long night. I'm so exhausted. Blue was ravenous this morning (Kasha was not but managed to eat her 2+ Tbsp FF). However...

Blue - last night around 2:30 am:

Liqui-poo everywhere. Everywhere.

I woke up on the couch and he was a mess (and was not wearing the e collar). This really isn't a one-person job. I had to clean the litter box, put the litter into another container so I could replace the puppy pad in the box, replace the litter, take out the bedding and wash it, and try to clean Blue up too. I had to cut hair off his tail and then I used a washcloth to clean the area near the incision as best as I could. He cried and struggled. I would have liked to have done better, but how?

This is just impossible.

He's sleeping on his bed with a towel wrapped around it now. I'm sure he's still a little dirty, but I can't do any more with what I have.

Strangely enough - there was no smell at all. None.

Re: 6/11 Kasha AMPS 541 :(

Poor Blue, I feel bad for him. The liquid poo could be from all the stress or the meds. He'll recover soon I'm sure.
Kasha those are not nice #'s, your Mama needs a break so how about coming down nicely today? Okay?

Re: 6/11 Kasha AMPS 541 :(

I'm sorry you are having such a rough time and I know it feels impossible to do everything that needs to be done, but you can do it. When you feel like you can't do it, come here and cry and vent and complain .. and there will always be someone here to listen to you, and then support you. Blue will get better, it's just a shock to his system right now. He's feeling a lot of stress and has a lot of stuff going on with pain meds, etc. Kasha will get better too, you just have to be patient. We are all dancing this sugar dance and we all know the cat's lead. We are all here for you ...

Re: 6/11 Kasha AMPS 541 :(

Hugs. It does sound like you have your hands full. I hope Blue will be okay and this is only a side effect from the meds and stress. He sure has been thru a lot, and you, too, You're doing a good job. I hope Kasha's numbers come down today. It's almost the weekend; do you have the weekend off from work? You sure do deserve some takeout breakfast this weekend or whatever takeout food you desire.

Well, it looks like her bounce has broken...

However, with my newly re-imaged laptop at work, I can no longer access my SS from work, so I can't update it yet. Using my phone to do this is too frustrating.

I ran home at lunch because I just had to know how everyone was doing. So - Kasha's in the blues... that's good.

Blue was lying in his food bowl - yes, his little butt was basically in the food. Sigh... I moved him and gave him some of the food Kasha didn't eat, since it's stuff she's not going to eat and Blue likes it.

I called the vet and talked to a tech today re: Blue. She said that the liqui-poo could have been from him being so backed up (it was his first poop since home from surgery. Surgery was Mon, he came home Tues, I'm assuming it's been quite a while). Or it could have been the Clavamox (AB) he's on. He's only got 4 more doses of the Clavamox (b.i.d.), so if this continues, I should tell them about it, but he'll probably finish up the Clavamox. And he was given major ABs while he was there (intravenous) so I shouldn't be so concerned if I don't have a full dose of clavamox that last day (the amount in the bottle looks incredibly small for 4 doses, but that's after shaking it - takes a while to all run back down the sides of the bottle). Also - we only have 4 more doses of pain meds, and they feel he shouldn't need more, but if his attitude changes a lot after he's been off them, I can contact them and they'll reevaluate. I mean, even from day one - when I picked him up - he was nearly ready for another dose of the bupe and he never acted like he was uncomfortable - I mean, I know he was, but he didn't act like it. I don't know whether that's comforting or scary. But anyway - the vet tech said overall, he sounds like he's actually doing better than expected at this point. She has a tripod kitty that someone dropped off at the emergency and she rescued him, so she seemed to have some experience with all of this.

I don't know. I still apologize to him everyday for putting him through all of this.

(((Krys))) I'm sorry Blue is going through some tough times, but some day (soon) I think that both you and he will be happy you did this. Hang in there. (((Blue))).

Re: 6/11 Kasha AMPS 541, 172 @ +5.5 :)

Krys,

If you mention the liqui-poo to your vet, they may suggest Forti-Flora. It's a box of little packets of a "nutritional supplement" (about $25 for ? 25 packets) available from vets. It contains good bacteria, to replace the normal bacterial flora in cats intestinal track, that get killed off when they are on AB's.

It sounds like the vet tech thought he needed to poop, but if the diarrhea continues, this stuff has worked for us. The good bacteria in their intestines are necessary for vit k production and proper absorbtion of nutrients, I think.

Many cats think it also taste really good, and can be sprinkled onto their dinner like salt, to encourage eating in an anorexic cat.

Bless you for taking such good care of sweet Blue. your'e an awesome mom, I know your pain on the late night clean ups, been there many times. you're in my prayers.

Crazy numbers today. I'm not going to tell what I told Kasha, but it seems like she's listening to me, at least a little. We'll see.

I haven't given Blue any Fortiflora (although I do have some), but he has had some probiotics in his food. Sienne recommended this Renew Ultimate probiotic (it's really intense - I've been taking probiotics for many, many years and this has way more in it than I've ever taken!) so Kasha and Blue both get about 1/3 a capsule in their foods (since they are both on antibiotics right now). I also have Azodyl for them, which is a probiotic and psyllium powder that is supposed to be good for kidneys.

Kasha was lukewarm about dinner, so I gave her about 1 Tbsp FF (Apparently, the classic Chicken Feast is out) and then a couple Tbsp of the FF Elegant Medleys - one that is supposed to be about 9% carbs. That's higher than I usually give, and it usually bumps up her numbers a little, but she's starting lower than usual and since she wasn't eating much of the lower carb stuff, why not? She ate at least 1 Tbsp of the 9% and the rest is waiting for her.

I watched Blue pee (isn't it funny what I do for fun now?) this evening. Initially, when we first came home after surgery, he was pretty much sitting in the litter to pee. Today, he hovered about 4 or 5 inches above the litter and pee pad and peed. He was a little shaky/wobbly, but he did it. And then he hopped to his little bed. It's just 2 hops in the cage from the lb to the bed (little hops), but he did it and was pretty steady too. I'm just amazed. What a brave little boy he is...

Ok - gotta water some plants before I see whether Kasha is going to go cliff diving tonight or stay steady...

Hello!

Sorry you had to deal with Liquipoo... I didn't know if you were trying to outdo Linda/Bear  ... and Kasha... those bounces... ! Yikes! Starting to see more blue during the day, and the bounces are short lived, so that's wonderful! Keep it up.

Sending good intestinal vibes for Blue!
