Racci had a really bad day with an asthma attack yesterday. Her numbers are a reflection of either the asthma attack and inflammation itself or the Albuterol rescue medicine. She was also very cranky and didn't eat as well as usual.

Today her numbers have improved tremendously and she looks like she might surf the greens for a while! Yay! So far so good. I'm going to walk a delicate balance of keeping her safe yet not bothering her too much today or stressing her out so won't be testing more than necessary. I'm hoping she'll wake up on her own hungry before +5.5-6 so I can get a test in. I really don't want to wake her but will if I have to, then won't test again till ps time.

Sorry, Again I thought I posted and didn't. I guess no surfing today. She doesn't want to eat. See you all later

Oh poor thing, I had a cat who was asthmatic and used an inhaler. That must really be tough with the diabetes. Hope tomorrow is a good day.

Hi Julie, Thank you.

Usually it's not too difficult, just a matter of extra medicine, except for being careful not to expose her to things that might bring on an attack. The asthma is just another part of her weak immune system but having autoimmune diseases myself, I know all about that. Her asthma is under control 99% of the time now but when it's not, it's very dangerous for her and I do nothing but worry. The asthma attacks are so scary. I count the seconds she's not breathing & don't breathe with her as I'm running to get the rescue med & inhaler. Sometimes forcing her to open her mouth is enough to stop the attack. Well, if you had an asthma kitty you know how scary it is. The worst time of the year for Racci seems to be the beginning of summer and around August. It's been a really long time since she was this bad though.

One of the problems with having both is that I can't let her get stressed when she's having a bad time with her asthma or she has an attack so that means that if she doesn't want certain medicines or her bg tests, I have to go slowly and spread them out so it's not too much at one time. She also loses her appetite and it's important to eat at the right times for the diabetes so I have to spend a lot of time coaxing and using my little tricks with her to get her to eat. Today I fed her one meal with a spoon. Normally, I try to give her frequent small meals but when she's not eating like this, she won't do that and that makes her bg go up too. :YMSIGH:

Thanks for visiting.

Hi Melanie and Racci, so sorry to hear Racci is having a hard time with her asthma. I couldn't even imagine how difficult/frustrating that is to deal with. I pretty bad asthma as a kid. I hope she has an easier day tomorrow and she feels like eating again.
