Since his +2 is lower than his PS test, this could be an active cycle. I would leave out some extra food for him today.

I was thinking the same. He's eating now again, plus I'm going to leave some frozen cicles for later in case I can't get home during lunchtime.

I see you're logged on. Are you at work still? Poe will be okay with the extra food. Can you make it home for lunch?

I am at work. I sure hope I can get home for lunch...that will be in about 2 hours. I may just go and have to stay later today.

He had an extra breakfast and there was still some there when I left, plus I left some cat cicles for him. I am a nervous wreck.

I know how it feels. Poe will take care of himself if he feels his blood sugar going down, as long as there is food out, he should eat it. But, I do know exactly how it feels.

I'm worried that the frozen food won't unthaw enough in time if he needs it. Another lesson learned...I think I won't leave the frozen anymore...just his regular. The guy at the pet store said its OK to leave it out for up to 6 hours. I may run home in about 45 min, take a really early lunch, test him, and make sure the food out is ok.

I've never been successful at doing this before myself, but I think it's a good idea, is to feed as though you do when you are at work during the weekend and watch how he eats and feeds his own curve. I always fail and meal feed during the weekends..
My cats will starting licking the frozen food as soon as it is put out for them sometimes. I think it thaws pretty quickly.

He usually gets 2 breakfasts every day anyway, and for the most part, I have been leaving food out when I leave for work (on weekends, I'll snack him more, its just not really free feeding like Mon - Fri).

He is eating about 2+ cans a day of the Friskies cans, which I think are the 5.5 oz, the small, flat cans. Anything on the recommended list is what I've been buying and he's been eating, no complaints. I did purchase the Pure Bites Shrimp which he turned his nose up at, but likes the chicken. I also got the Halo LivALittle Salmon, which he likes.

The one thing I do remember is the no food +10 - +12 rule, but any other time, if he's wanting to eat, I'll give him something. I know cats don't eat out of boredom or emotions like us humans.. :mrgreen:

Well, I bet the food is thawed by now. Has he eaten the thawed out frozen food before?

I think you can wait until your normal lunch hour, but if you're worried, go..

The one time I left the frozen food, I ended up being able to come home at lunch, and it was still there, not frozen solid, but since he seen me home, he figured he'd just hit me up.. :roll:

If I go now, and do what will be a +5-ish, I won't be able to get another til the +11

I ran home..fortunately I am close enough. He was sound asleep, frozen stuff still there unthawing, few tiny bites left from 2nd breakfast. Tested him, and fixed up the frozen.

I'm glad you were able to get home to test.
The cycle looks pretty flat. Sometimes, a flat yellow cycle can mean some action next cycle, like tonight. We'll see.

Yes...breathing a sigh of relief...he must think I'm a spaz. :lol:

Do you happen to know where to purchase those automated feeders? I have been to my local pet stores, I did get him a water fountain...which all he does is play in it :roll:

He's my only cat, so that does make it a bit easier for me.

I was reading around the board too, trying to find the medium carb foods, but no luck. I know I had seen it before, but can't seem to find it now.

I use this two compartment automatic feeder that they sell at PetsMart. There is also a 5 compartment one which I have never tried and I have heard some cats take a while getting used to. I also buy these little ceramic cat food bowls that are $1.97 each in the pet food section of WalMart that fit perfectly in the compartments. I just think the ceramic is better than eating off of plastic.
I give the Fancy Feast Medleys (I only buy the Florentine varieties as they don't have rice and say "in a delicate sauce") and I use the Fancy Feast Roasted flavors as medium carb. They are all around 10% to 12% carbs, I believe.
You can also make MC by mixing LC with a little HC.

He left a good amount of the food I put out at the +5.25 and I made sure I took it away at +9. He really climbed back up, so does this mean his depot is filling up again?
