Finally got my lantus from Mark's today in the mail!
We will be switching over from Prozinc in the AM tomorrow. My husband is awake from about +4 onwards and I am home around +8. He usually gets me a check around +6 or so, although we've kind of slacked off on testing recently a little just due to the fact that Tigger isn't responding to Prozinc. I will go back to more frequent checks with the switch.
I was going to go with 5u in the AM. My vet suggested starting at 2u. Based on what I was told here, I was recommended to start at 7u, but I am a chicken and am super worried since it is a new insulin.
My question is, do you think I am fine to start him on the lantus at that dose tomorrow since I will be at work? My husband can get a check anytime if something seems off, but he doesn't keep an eye on Tigger quite like I do. He does have access to food all day.
Also, should I be following the TR more or SLGS? I was doing more of a TR with the Prozinc, or trying to.
Just nervous for the switch tomorrow. Wish us luck and thank you once again in advance.
