6.10 Luke AMPS +11 53

Previous post for continuity: https://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/5-17-luke-amps-11-98-after-hypo-yesterday.290115/

Curious if anyone else on here has a cat whose nadir seems to come at the +11 or +12 timeline often enough that you risk putting him into hypo if you shoot.

The bottom line is that Luke seems to like to hit his nadir right before the shot. Sometimes he then goes hypo afterwards. Then I panic all night. Other times, he does not go hypo and his BS stays relatively stable at night. In either case, I am puzzled why he seems to hit his nadir so late in the day. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a precedent for how to prevent this?

Thank you in advance... I can't seem to figure this out.

Al you know is that his nadir was sometime between +7 and +11. Looks like he's on his way up now, so I suspect earlier than +11.

My cat Neko often did a later nadir. I learned to shoot anything over 50. Get a +1 and a +2 to gather data and see what happens when you shoot low and late. To start, food can bump him up until onset.

Luke is breaking a bounce, so that often leads to later nadirs too. And can lead to more action in the following cycle. Those may be the cycles where you see him go low. We don't tend to use the phrase "go hypo", unless we see hypo symptoms.

Also, it's always good to test those Libre below 50's with the handheld meter as often the Libre reads much lower.

I have a Libre on him so I was checking the curve, and the lowest (at least by Libre) was +11. But you're right, it could be slightly inaccurate. I did test the below 50 - and it was 80 (with a Freestyle Lite). So the Libre def read lower.

Thank you! I'll keep an eye on the numbers at +1 and +2 to see how he is responding.
