Not sure what's going on with Kasha. These numbers are unfamiliar.

She ate her breakfast well - over 2 Tbsp FF.

On the other hand, Blue and I are not feeling as well. Blue was only marginally interested in breakfast and he barely ate anything. This has me concerned. He's dozing/sleeping in the cage right now... In a little bit, I'll take him out for his meds and see how he's doing then.

I am in pain. I fell asleep for a couple of hours on the papasan cushion next to Blue's cage and woke up miserable. My neck, back and one shoulder blade are very, very painful - must have been a bad position. Neck and shoulders have been tight for a couple weeks (stress?) but now it really hurts. Ibuprofen, a hot shower and muscle rub did nothing to help. I need to get to my chiropractor today, but now I'm worried about Blue and I have to get to work so they can take my computer for reimaging (it's locked on my desk now and I'll have to unlock it to turn it over to them). I'm also worried about what Kasha's numbers are going to do today - makes me nervous not to be here when she's started out low twice in a row.

Sorry you and Blue aren't feeling well. Blue might be depressed but I'm sure he'll snap out of it, just an adjustment. You need a good long deep massage!
And don't worry about Kasha, she's doing great!

Re: 6/10 Kasha AMPS 161

Hi Krys,
I hope Blue will perk up after he's had his meds and sorry you're not feeling well. Hopefully a hot shower and med will help plus a strong cup of coffee for you. I had insomnia last night; I think it was the Starbucks coffee and Chunky Monkey Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream that caused it! I'm addicted to that ice cream! Anyway, that's a good AMPS bg for Kasha, but I can see why it causes worry with you being at work. It probably would not be convenient for you to run home at lunch? Take care and feel better. Keep us posted on Kasha and Blue.

Re: 6/10 Kasha AMPS 161

thats a nice number for kasha .. just make sure to leave out plenty of fuds for her and she should be ok ... sorry to hear about blue .. I imagine this will take some time for him to come around but in the end, you did what was best for him, even if it is hard to explain that ... I hope the chiropractor helps you feel better!

Re: 6/10 Kasha AMPS 161, 87 @ +1.5 Advice?

Ok - she's 87 at +1.5... I just gave her some 17% carb food with gravy... Not sure what I should do? I can't leave when she's dropping this low so early in the cycle.

Re: 6/10 Kasha AMPS 161, 87 @ +1.5, 67 @ +2 Advice?

Got out the HC food and she's eating a spoonful now. Emailed work that I'd be in late - again. They're going to love that.

Zantac for me cuz my stomach is hurting now too.

This stress is killing me.

Hey Kris

if u can go for a +2.5, not sure how long you can stick around, hopefully she's wont drop too much too fast, the hc should help.

feel better and breath....

Giving Kasha HC if you need to leave is fine.

I'm wondering if Blue's pain meds have worn off and that's why he's not feeling that great.

I think you need a massage and a glass of wine and a reminder of what a phenomenal job you are doing. It has been an exceptionally stressful time for you so please take care of yourself.

HC will definitely raise her--Keep spot checking till you need to go--every half hour?
Any update??--You want her to surf-Good day forming here!!! This is GOOD

Re: 6/10 Kasha AMPS 161, 87 @ +1.5, 67 @ +2 Advice?

Ok, so she was

87 @ +1.5
67 @ +2 (even with MC fed after the +1.5)
101 @ + 2.65
105 @ +3 (some MC fed - 13%)

I'll check her again at +3.5 and hopefully then I can go to the chiropractor...

I hope this is a breakthrough with Kasha. Fingers and paws crossed over here. But only time will tell. You are doing a great job and keeping her steady today. I hope Blue feels better when the meds kick in. You deserve a massage or something. :YMHUG:

Well, I guess this is a bounce.

I wonder how low she went? I left at +3.5 this morning and she was back down to 91 at that time. I gave a little more HC (she said ick) and then left out a bunch of MC food. When I got home, most of the MC was gone, which might explain her lack of excitement over dinner. She ate her full 2 Tbsp, but only cuz I dusted every other bite with chicken dust.

She also took her 28th Baytril enrobed in a skinnied pill pocket, encrusted with chicken dust. So - if we were following the lower end of the recommendations for kidney infection, she's already had 4 weeks of ABs. But she's got 2 more weeks of pills, just to make sure.

No ketones, btw.

Blue: looking a little better today. He peed on his litter box (well, sort of in and on it) but he did it standing up. Lately he almost sits in the litter, but I saw him today and it looked good. Still no poop though. Darn. Well, if there's nothing tonight, I'm calling tomorrow morning to see what they tell us to do. He was fairly excited about dinner, but didn't eat all that much. However, all the food I'd left him was gone... And the E collar was still on when I got home. He had it off for dinner but then he was way too interested in licking that sore, itchy incision. So, back on it goes.

Poor guy. He's being so incredibly good about being penned up in that cage. I know it won't last, but I can't believe how good he's been.

My chiropractor got my back and neck to crack, which was a feat in itself cuz I was so tight. He's an awesome guy - we talked about pets and what we go through for them. I'm feeling sore and tired, still hurting, but not nearly as much. Time for a walk...

Time for a walk, a hot shower, a glass of wine or cup of tea, and cuddle time with the kitties -- and no falling asleep on the papasan chair or you'll be a pretzel.

I hope Kasha climbs down out of those numbers soon! Glad to hear Blue is having a good day.

Hi Krys, You've had quite the day! I hope that Blue and you will both be feeling better this evening and that Kasha will come down from her bounce. I can recommend a wonderful book for back pain that has helped both me and my DH: "Back Care Basics: A Doctor's Gentle Yoga Program for Back and Neck Pain Relief", by Mary Pullig Schatz (Berkeley: Rodmell Press, 1992).
Feel better, relax, and get some good sleep.

Hey - thanks! I'm going to make a note of that book, try to pick it up somewhere. I mean, I love my chiropractor and all - but if I can help the pain on my own, so much the better!
