Yesterday's condo

China's still looking pretty good!! Another visit from Mr. Greenie! :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Going to try to take her out for a walk this afternoon or evening (depending on how humid it is out there). She's been really good about wearing the harness, so the next step is adding the leash. Would be nice if she got used to it and enjoyed going out!

Got to go help DM fill out 5 pages of health history for a doctor appointment tomorrow...Sounds like fun, don't it? :roll:

once punkin got used to the harness and leash he did fine with it. at first we'd just make it onto the porch, and at any sign of freak-out i'd pick him up so he wasn't ever fighting against the leash.

once you get her used to it, you'll have to let me know how it goes. i thought walking punkin was incredibly interesting. he didn't go very far or very fast, but he had favorite routes under particular shrubs and through little passages that left me all covered with spider webs. :shock: he always wanted to go under the fence but i didn't fit! :lol: he would spray the same places every time to mark his territory, mostly in the neighbor's yards. he had some favorite spots - especially the neighbor's driveway that is slightly higher than the rest of our cul-de-sac. I think he was surveying his kingdom. :-D it was pretty fun.

Nice numbers for China today. I hope she'll get used to the leash. I'm sure she'd enjoy getting out for walks.

Thanks for the visits today Julie and Carla!

I'll be sure to let you know how she takes to the idea of walking on a leash. She's always loved to dash out the door, but then she tends to freeze, so I think she'll enjoy getting out once she gets used to the idea. That part about going under the fence will cause trouble for me too...as well as between the bushes and under the porch!...LOL

We're kind of back where we started this morning as far as her numbers go...we started at 130 and tonight's PMPS was 139..but the entire day was under renal threshold so I'm happy!!

Hopefully she won't pull any funny business tomorrow since I have to be gone most of the late morning/afternoon with DM and her EMG

Alert - cliff diving kitty condo! :shock: Oh wait, just normal China night time routine. :lol: :lol:

I had an arthritic old guy I used to walk on a harness and he did a lot of what punkin did. Liked to just hang under the bushes (making sure I got the cobwebs :roll: ) and find a nice patch of sunshine to snooze in. It got so that I could let the leash go and weed/garden in the general area while he snoozed. Very pleasant way to spend outside. :-D

Yeah...I remember the good old days...when I might actually worry if I saw numbers like this!!

But like you said..This is China....all systems normal :lol:

She seemed to enjoy sniffing around on the porch for a little while, but once that got old, she was ready to go back in the house, so I figured that was enough for her first trip. She did consider jumping off the porch into the weeds, and just a little tug on the leash got her moving back toward me, so I think it was 100% successful so far!!

Maybe a little longer tomorrow until she's more comfortable being outside at all, and then we'll try actually getting off the porch!

i've tried to take Anya outside, even just holding her but she immediately wants back in. literally - if i set her down, she makes a beeline for the door and tries to climb back in! :lol:

Frodo would like to explore the great outdoors, however. He's snuck out on the deck or porch a couple of times.

Good luck with your appt with your mom tomorrow. I envy you still having her, but i remember how hard it was to take care of my mom, and she only needed help for 4 months before she passed away. my mom was fine, then fell and broke her hip, had a stroke a month later and passed away 3 months after that. it's a mixed bag and a difficult phase of life. i'm thinking of you. :YMHUG:

Well that was interesting!! And a little unexpected, but now I have something else to watch tomorrow. I wonder if taking her outside was "stressful" enough that she went lower than she "should have" gone?

I know in the past, that during stressful situations that should take her higher, she's been lower (like living in a hotel, going to the vet) so I think she's one of those that actually responds to stress by going lower. Should be interesting to see if it repeats the next time I try it!

Guess I'll be setting that alarm again though...just to make sure she stays safely surfing!

Tomorrow's not going to be any fun for DM at all. She's been complaining about numbness in her hands and the doctor has recommended the EMG several times, but we've both told her that while it's not the worst thing in the world, it's also not fun, so she's always refused it. The last time she called me complaining about it though, I said we really needed to just do it and get it out of the way. It may not tell us anything, but even that will tell us something!
