I'm still learning the lingo! have seen many people refering to the 3 or the 5 P's. I thought it meant the excess urination, eating/drinking etc. but some posts make it sound like it's a good thing? " 5 Ps all present" or "5ps all good"

just wanted some clarification! thanx!

I think everyone is meaning how are your cat's normal habits?
if your cat is not big on playing, then don't worry about that one. Also, if he's not big on purring, you can't make him purr.

It comes down to people saying all's well with my guy.

Each of them have an importance in the journey. There have been many cats dx with FD and they feel pretty crappy and do very little grooming of themselves... it's one of the signs that your cat's feeling better.... if he starts to groom himself more .... you can tell that is a sign of improvement.

The pee and poo are also important items to watch. As a cat becomes feeling better on insulin, you may see a change, a decrease in urine output. Also, if you are not seeing much urine output at all or a big reduction, you may want to mention it as you don't want to worry about blockages or infections. The poo is pretty important as you want to keep the stool moving, or you could be looking at a vet visit to have the blockage 'helped along'.

When you see someone say all 5 p's are in order, they are saying my cat's doing great.

ah! okay. thanx! then Rupie is fine in the 5p department!!! whoo hoo!.. although.. I never see him pooh actually! he's like clockwork with the peeing so I can use the test strips very easily (he goes in the same spot outside every morning and evening).. I'm assuming he's pooping somewhere!!!!! geesh.. another thing to think about!
