I’m on my phone at work, so excuse the formatting. Monty is newly diagnosed. 1 unit of Humilin. At +5 and I had my husband measure the bg... 52. Husband says Monty was sleeping but he woke him up and he was alert. I had husband feed Monty half a can of fancy feast gravy lovers. I get home from work in 1.5 hours and I will test again then. Is it “hypo” even if he is still alert/not lethargic? Should he feed the full can of gravy lovers?

I know i have to update my signature and will do soon.

If it's a human meter, it's still not "too low" but it was probably good that your husband fed him.

Have him test again in 30 minutes to make sure he comes up and doesn't continue dropping

We consider under 50 (on a human meter) to be the point where they're "too low"

If there are no symptoms, it's just called a "low number"....we don't use the word "hypo" unless there are symptoms.

Yes human meter. Sorry! I know I have to update the signature with that info.

Will have him retest. Thank you! Tomorrow I’m doing a curve for the first time so we will have more info about how he reacts to the insulin.
