Let me start a few days back - I started Sam (and all my cats) on biotin (water soluble B vitamin) and fish oil supplements a few days ago. I'd heard from some diabetic human friends of mine that they'd had great success with biotin in both lowering their BG and helping one of them regain some of the hair she'd lost from diabetes. I did some more research on the biotin and found out it's often given to cats with skin issues. Well, two of my guys love to lick their fur off, one much worse than the other, so I thought I might as well try it. The fish oil was something I'd been meaning to do for a while, also for their coats.
In addition to this, I upped Sam's dose from 1.6 to 2 units the night of the 4th because we just weren't getting any traction with the 1.6 anymore.
Yesterday, Sam was AMPS: 290 +6: 148 PMPS: 269. Then this morning his AMPS was 289. I'm sure it's too early to judge, and I won't know if it's the upped dosage alone or with the addition of the biotin, but I have to say I am so happy he's out of the reds and pinks for a bit!
Of course, he has his dental tomorrow morning, so no telling what that could bring. Anyway, just wanted to share!
