I am wondering if I should be giving Frodo more than the .4 or .5? I ask this because after looking at his numbers since I started using the ReliOn meter there have been only 3 occassions where his numbers have bee below 200. Plus he still seems to be hitting above 300 a lot. Could the diarrehea be caused by him staying about 300??? Other than this he is acting fine, purring, cleaning, playing, eating and talking.

And the weekend of the 29th he had been vomitting and had a diarrehea/semi-firm stool mix. Vomitting stopped, but the diarrehea has not, matter of fact it is getting worse. Friday I came home to 3 small places on the carpet, he had gone in one of his litter boxes also. Last night when I came home from work he had gone in two places on the carpet, and not his box. I set him in his box again and it was nothing but loose. I can not figure out what is causing it, at first I thought the vomitting and dirrehea was tired together that maybe one can of food just did not agree with him as I could not think of anything he could have gotten into. Now I am not sure what is up. Is there anything I can give him to help stop it? He is eating the Merrick B4 Grain Turkey, he stopped eating the chicken when he was sick last weekend. So I am taking the cans back today and get the Wellness Core again. He was eating Core and EVO95%, I stopped the EVO because he was eating it all that well and it was turning into a waste of money, and him not getting enough food. I stopped the Core because he seemed to like the Merrick B4 Grain Chicken better.

I am not sure what to do for him, he doesn't pig out, he likes little meals throughout the day, and will definitely let you know when he wants them.

Sorry this was so long, just wanted to be sure all the info was there to understand what was going on with him.

Any advice is oh so appreciated. I really hate coming home to poo all over the carpet.

Re: 5/7 - Frodo - Nbrs and now Diarrehea

I think I would be tempted to try to figure out the poo situation before I messed with the dose, Nancey. He is still in nice numbers. And no, I don't think the numbers tend to cause poo issues. Not impossible, but haven't heard of it.

Two ideas. Change food. You might try Fancy Feast classics for awhile. Pick one and see if he will eat it exclusively for awhile. The premium foods are great but tend to have some unusual ingredients. (I am always amazed Wellness has blueberries. I figured I'd rather have by products....after all, mice have by products.). And get some FortiFlora. It is a probiotic that often helps with intestinal issues. Available from the vet or on line.

No fun to have poo on the carpet.

Sue,

Not sure why I didn't compare ingredients, didn't think about it until you mentioned the blueberries. I knew the B4 Grain had very limited ingredients, which is what I liked about it. However, it two ingredients that Core and the EVO 95% does not have, dried egg and Yeast extract. Hhhmmm it has me thinking that maybe one of those is the culprit here. I believe I am taking the Merrick back to the store and will be picking up the Core back up as he did not have any problems on that food.

I will definitely be picking up the forti-flora, I have used that with my dog before. I know you can give a dog plain natural yogurt to help settle their stomachs, basically help with the natural bacteria in the stomach, but can you give it to a cat...if they would even eat it??

No fun to clean the poo up either... stinky stinky stinky....

Okay so I think maybe he has a issue with the Merrick B4 Grain Chicken, he has been on the Turkey for two days and yesterday FINALLY was not loose. I tried to get him to eat some of the Core, which he has eaten before and he just nibbles at it, has no desire to really eat it, so I went back to the Turkey and he scarfed it down. I guess he is a Turkey eating cat.

Now how do I get his numbers to start coming down? This morning he was sitting at 360 and meowing up a storm. I would really like to see him down under that 200 number. From everything I have read aren't numbers between 240 - 280 start impacting his renal system? His nadir last night was 205, at +8 he had already jumped back up to 245.

Would it hurt to push him up a couple of points, maybe .6 or .7??

Glad the pooping has stopped! I think you could move him up in dose. It is hard to tell whether up or down is best. He had some nice numbers on .4 before but lately he has been running higher. It's one of the those questions that you can't answer till you try it. Add a little more. If he runs higher or gives you an inverse curve, then lower would be better. No harm either way as long as you can stay on top of the numbers.

I am glad also. I will go up on his PM dose and see what happens. Thinking just a small increase to start with maybe try .7.

Also does anyone know where I can buy the Methyl-B12? Has anyone purchased this on line, I cannot seem to locate it locally.

I found the Methyl B-12 locally at the more "groovy" health food/vitamin shops. Not at GNC or those places, but you could ask them.

I found that alot of them come as lozenges but I doubted that Harley would suck on one until it was gone  so I found the ones that are water soluable, most people add it to their food, since Harley would do almost anything for chin scratches I would slip the tiny pill inside his cheek and rub his chin until it was disolved in about 30 seconds.

Otherwise I'm sure you can find it online.

Most pharmacies should have the MB12 tablets in the vitamin section.
PM Lori and ask where she got hers for Copper?
