Mooch sends smoochies to everyone! He is down to 30 kibbles for breakfast with his can of Fancy Feast. He's been eating about 50g of Fancy Feast per meal and so far that has not changed since I started reducing the kibbles.

Mooch liked the chicken Fancy Feast and ate ~75g from his breakfast which was most of the can! He's down to 25 kibbles tonight and I've given him another can of the chicken FF. I got him a selection of the FF classic flavors and he seems to like the ones which come with a little bit of gravy (rather than jelly) surrounding the pate. When I restock I'll have to get that type.

I switched to a new bottle of insulin this evening and will test his blood glucose before bed in case it's stronger than the old one which was ~6 weeks old. Luckily (or unluckily) I am a type one diabetic and Mooch's dose is so tiny (0.15 units) that I can take it from my bottle of Lantus now his has expired.

Mooch sends smoochies to everyone!

Great improvemet on the switch to FF, Mooch!
A few of my cats still refuse to have canned food since the switch for all in March. I have to feed them their dry knibbles after the canned meal. We dont have Fortiflora here, I am trying to order a box & try adding to the canned for them.
Is Mooch's bg improved with the cut down on knibbles?

Re: 5/7 Mooch AMPS 134, PMPS 107

Before I was trying various low/medium carb wet foods and Mooch would eat none/a bit of the wet and I'd make up the difference with kibble so it was pretty inconsistent and he was going high/low.

The first step I did was to get him on 1/8 cup of kibble twice a day which gave him the minimum calories a day he needed and on the side also offering low carb wet food til we figured out what he liked. This got him on a pretty consistent amount of food/carbs every day and I was able to adjust his dose to match and get his glucose levels stabilised.

For the first week he ate virtually none of the wet until we got to some of the Fancy Feast classics and he started eating 1/2 a can or more consistently over a few days.

The last step was to start reducing the kbble gradually and I also reduced his insulin shortly after that to offset the reduced carbs.

The next bit is going to get tricky as he's on such a low dose of Lantus it can't be reduced any more. If his blood sugars start to drop over the next few days I'll have to go to a single daily dose until we can get him into remission.
