Re: 5/7 Ella amps 409

Ella will need some time to adapt to the new food. Come down Ella, be a good girl!

She's eating the same food she's always had:)
She's uncomfortable from the high bg.

They are feeling a bit tight but they are on!

+2= 385

Re: 5/7 Ella amps 409 +1=394

Those patience pants are the most important part of your wardrobe. Come on down Ella. Have a great day Tamara!

Re: 5/7 Ella amps 409 +1=394

That's a nice, easy start for Miss Ella. Hoping that she continues like that for you today, and maintains a nice surf. Have a great day!

Re: 5/7 Ella amps 409 +1=394

Hi guys .. I'm sorry to hear miss ella is feeling uncomfortable this morning .. when she starts seeing lower numbers consistently she will feel lots better .. :YMHUG: have a great day!

Re: 5/7 Ella amps 409 +1=394

Come on down Ella - and when you do could you please bring Mannie with you? seems to be a pink morning for some of our kitties. Have a great day today!

Re: 5/7 Ella amps 409 +1=394

 they're a little tight, eh? pretty funny. :-D

the good news (i'm an eternal optimist, can't help it!) is that you don't have to worry about her while you are at work today and you don't have to spend an hour and a half to dash home at lunchtime to check her. wahoo! ;-)

Re: 5/7 Ella amps 409 +1=394

Thanks for all of your words of encouragement everyone:)
Julie, you're right that I don't have to rush home at lunch but I still worry about her when she's high. There are other complications that can arise from that too! nailbite_smile

Seeing as she was so sensitive to the insulin just a week ago, I'm really surprised that we haven't seen any changes at all. I'd like to see her get out of this flat cycle of pinks. Her poor liver must be so confused and I hope it will co-operate when it's time to get back down.

Re: 5/7 Ella amps 409 +1=394 pmps 400

Nothing going on over here but horrible high numbers. I know I've been told to keep the patience pants on but in my opinion, either the insulin is compromised or this dose isn't enough for her. Tomorrow morning is the 6th cycle she's been on .25. If we don't see action, do I dose her .50 in the evening?

Also....I left out Wellness with an ice cube on top for about 9 hours. Ella didn't eat any while I was gone. I placed it on the counter when I got home, meaning to ditch it right away but got distracted. When I got back to the kitchen it was gone! About 1/4 of a can! Not sure who ate it but what are the consequences of eating food that has been left out all day? diahhrea or something worse? Another sick kitty is just what I need ohmygod_smile

Thanks

Re: 5/7 Ella pmps 400 (question:cat got into 9 hr old wet fo

Helen, I can't say that the food was okay, obviously, but Checks has eaten food that's been out all night. He rushes to it, as I'm walking into the kitchen in the morning. I take it from him, of course, but it's never harmed him.

Mind you.....I'm not advocating serving old food to your cat.

Re: 5/7 Ella pmps 400 (question:cat got into 9 hr old wet fo

you have the option of increasing the dose sooner than 6 cycles if the numbers are high and flat. I would say these numbers qualify as high and flat, so if you want to increase to 0.5 then go for it whenever you're ready.

I don't think the old food should be a problem. I basically free feed, so my cats often much on stuff that was put out up to 12 hours ago. Lucy usually runs to whatever dish has leftovers in it and eat the leftovers as an appetizer while I'm fixing her fresh stuff for her.

Re: 5/7 Ella pmps 400 (question:cat got into 9 hr old wet fo

Thanks Libby and Barb! I just got off the phone with my vet and she wasn't that concerned either.
I will probably dose her .5 in the evening so that I can monitor UNLESS I'm feeling brave in the morning:)
I'll be able to get a +2 and possibly come home for lunch so I'll think about it.

Tamara

Re: 5/7 Ella pmps 400

Hi again,
Tamara, if you are worried about the insulin being compromised, why not spring for a new vial/pen/cartridge (you can still get Lantus in cartriges in Canada, I believe). It has been quite a long time on this vial, and, as you have said, you made some mistakes wirh it when you were new to FD. A new vial would take one of the variables out of the mix.

Have a good evening and good luck with the dosecrease.

Ella & Rusty

Re: 5/7 Ella pmps 400

Ella,
I thought about buying a new vial but when I spoke to my vet tonight she didn't think it would be bad considering it had a great effect just a week ago. I think I'll see what happens for a few more cycles on a higher dose. I'm getting down to the last 1/4 so I'll probably have to get a new one soon anyways...especially since I waste so much trying to ge those air bubbles out:)

Re: 5/7 Ella pmps 400

Good luck with the new dose, whenever you decide to do it.

I heard if you go to a pharmacy inside a hospital, that they often will sell you individual pens. That would save you some money.
