Well my darling shakespeare has once again gotten into trouble,
but this time he fell

He made it through my barrier early this morning and went down stairs to try
to get into the dry food that I feed the girls.
Well as we know he can not walk well, I think when he was trying to get up the stairs
he fell down the stairs
I woke up to thud, thud, thud at 4:30am this morning
I have checked his legs and everything else
He seems to be fine...he ate and even tried to get outside this morning when my husband was leaving so
I am pretty sure he did not get hurt...dont know what to do with that boy!! :-x :dizcat
anyway his numbers are still high because of the increase so I will keep him here for a few days

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
and HAppy Friday!

Poor Shakes. I don't remember - are you working to get everyone on wet food or are there issues with the other cats? Seems to me as he improves and can get around better, you will have an increased problem keeping him out of the dry, Denise.

Probably nagging day for all newbies. Can you get a curve in this weekend so we have some more data to look at? It doesn't have to be all in one day - a few tests Saturday and then a few more to fill in the holes on Sunday?

Hi Sue,
YEs I am definately going to be taking a lot of numbers this weekend to see where he is
I dont like that I upped him and he seems to be staying to the 300's with the upped dosage

I dont really know what to do
THe girls LOVE the dry food, as does Shakes, more than the wet.
I now buy the dry food that has the lowest carbs for the girls,
even though they are not diabetic, so at least if he gets into it it shouldnt be
too bad for him(hopefully)
I would hate to take away all dry for them...but I guess we shall have to see what happens as he progresses

THanks for your input and I hope you have a great day!

Denise,

I thought I wouldn't be able to take away the dry either but then I started reading how bad it was for the cats so I decided I had to. When the youngest was about a year old she had to have an enema she was so constipated & I bet it was cause of the dry food! I also worried about UTI's especially with my male. I really hate the smell (and I don't even feed fish) but I know it's better for them. Thumper & her sister are 15 & have eaten dry since they were weaned but they love the wet. Petey is a grazer so it's hardest with him & he pester's me all night but he'll just have to deal with it. It would be harder though if they didn't like the wet! I hope it will work out for you to switch! Good luck!
