Hi LL, I have a question, do we have a kitty pill for constipation? I don't think its very bad, since she is going once a day as usual, and it has always been the same medium hard…and same amount., but I noticed yesterday she took extra long to go, and then was sitting on the rug near the mud room where her litter box is, just for a few minutes. It seems like everything else is fine. BG numbers ok… I don't want to put the question mark on this post yet, since I don't consider this urgent, but will if it keeps up.

Wish our weather would just make up its mind, some sun, some clouds. It's not an easy thing to take Daphne outside to her deck, so I want it to be sunny for at least a few hours. I have to lug all the stuff outside… her water, my water, her snack, my snack, my glasses, my reading material, or laptop, house phone, cell phone, and then 15lb Daphne, and if I forget anything, I can't go back in, cause she's not an outside kitty, and so I would have to take her back inside the house with me, and believe me, that is not a pretty picture, she is 15 lbs, and if thats not bad enough, she makes herself dead weight, and starts to growl and spit at me if I move her before she gets her full deck time! Yes, she does rule my life, just in case no one noticed, but then again, I think every one in LL also has a kitty or kitties that do the same.

Have a great Sunday LL!

Sending vines to all the kitties and beans who may need them today.

Re: 5/6 Daphne AMPS 150, +4 63,

Hi Barb,

Most people use Miralax powder in water. 1/4 to 1/8 tspn upi to 2x a day. It has very little taste, no smell and is harmless and it works. I use 1/4 bid with Racci because she has an ongoing issue with constipation. You can either put it in the food or use it in syringes premixed with water, whatever works best. I always offer extra water also.

With an over 20 lb'r, I sure know what you mean! My deck is upstairs & usually in shade from trees so it's even worse if I want the sun and have to go down to the yard and set up the chair first.

Re: 5/6 Daphne AMPS 150, +4 63,

That's so funny! I have a large enclosure in the backyard where the cats go, I go with them because I live in a bad neighborhood and have a low fence, I'm not comfortable with the alley traffic seeing my cats alone in the pen. Seems everytime we go out I forget something and have to make as mad a dash as I'm still capable of making, back in to the house. OR lug cats back in. Eleanor's struggling, wiggling, 11 lbs is hard for me. I don't know how you and Melanie manage!!
I was giving Miralax to a paraplegic cat I had. It works great. Are you sure this is not a urinary tract issue though?

Thanks Melanie and Julie! I will get some tomorrow, at least to have it in the house. She seems fine today. Good point Julie, I have to ask DH about that (UTI). He usually reports the litter box issues to me, but maybe he forgot and I forget to ask. He took over that job in about the last 20 years

I know you have a bad back Melanie, and Julie I know the stuff you have, boy the three of us should not be lugging our kitties around, but I'm sure you guys do what I do, and just ignore it, till we sit down and say, I wonder why I'm hurting so bad… She was so funny, I took her out, and she was just so relaxed, and it was time for PMPS, and so I went to pick her up, I could not believe how heavy she made herself, and she sort of molded herself into the curve of the chair she was in, couldn't even get my hand behind her to pick her up. I had to call my DH's cell phone to come out and stay with her, till I prepared her test, shot, and dinner, to take outside for her. I am happy though, it seems like she always has a much better PMPS # when she is outside.

Oh, these kitties know how to get what they want, don't they? It did turn into a lovely afternoon late in the day today!

We use the generic Rite Aid version of Mirilax for our civvie, Frankie, who has mild chronic constipation issues. She gets just undr 1/8 tsp BID. I mix it in with her wet food, which I add a fair amount of warm water to as well. For the most part it helps, but every once in a while she still has a minor flare up.

I hope you guys are having a relaxing evening!

Gorgeous PMPS and how nice and flat!!! Nice morning, too!!

I use slippery elm bark powder for constipation AND diarrhea. It soothes the intestines and helps it function better and it's nutritive. You have to get the pure powder at the health food store and warm it with water and give it with a syringe. It's tasteless. Let me know if you are interested in the "recipe".

Have a great evening, Barb.

Beautiful Numbers AGAIN Daphne!!!! WOW! Moonie gets 1/8 tsp Miralax in her food everyday & it works great!
Moonie doesnt go out, but we have a room with Big high windows all around & when you open them, it is like being outside & skylights let in the sun & moon. Moonie Plants herself there & stays till we try getting her off the condo we have there for her...OR when I pick her up to get her to do something, she grabs onto anything she is sitting on!!! Her cat bed, our comforter, your skin :o
Yes We do so Live for them, they are worth it-Right?
Have a great night & Thanks for your sweet posts to us this week--It means a lot & you mean a lot to us--Hugs & Lubs from us!

Good luck with the Miralax - I hope it does the trick for Daphne. It should.

Very nice numbers for her today - love the green. I hope you guys enjoyed your time outside. Sounds like Daphne did - even with the diner service! :-D :-D

Hi Barb, I hope the Miralax will help sweet Daphne. I've used it in the past on Mags, and just a little goes a long way with her. These kitties do feel like dead weight when it comes to carrying. I have a tough time with the carrier to the car. :-D Yes, we willl do anything to accommodate them. Have a good night.

I've gotten to the point that I can't carry her in the carrier any more. It's so embarrassing!   I call the vet when I'm outside their door and someone comes and meets me to carry Racci!

I can do it if I only have her but nothing else so I take everything else out first and set it up outside when I take her in the yard, then go back for Racci. You're right, Barb, I do pick her up and down a million times a day because poor Racci can't jump anymore from the neuropathy so she stands in front of things and waits for her slave/mommy to lift her. By the time the night rolls around I'm feeling it but it's a good excuse to grab a hug each time.

If Daphne hasn't pooped or it's in very small hard balls and taking a long time she might be constipated but if she's just struggling but has normal stools (smooth and kind of long) it could be a Urinary infection, especially if not much urine is coming out. Odds are you would know if she didn't feel good but sometimes they can be very brave.

Daphne is surfing so nicely!

Amy, yes, it seems like we have to just catch the sun when it decides to show itself, but it was a pretty day after mid day. I have just been ignoring my allergies through all this

Marje, I know that herb, and must have looked into it for myself, I have/had, fingers crossed, bladder issues for myself at least, but I went the natural way, and read books on herbs, but like always, my memory is just not working, so yes, I would love to have the recipe… thanks

Roni, yes, I will walk on hot coals, almost

Melanie, I do the same thing at my vet. Doesn't the carrier make it impossible? Thanks on the description on the stool. I talked to DH, and he's just not getting it… I'll be observing tomorrow myself.

Michelle, yes I'm afraid this is becoming a habit with her (diner service)

Ann, yup pretty much "anything to accommodate"

Have a great week LL!
