5/5 Bobo AMPS 103

We hit blue again this am so I upped him back to .1.

he’s eating better but I’m still feeding him food that’s between 10-11% overnight because he will not eat any pate and I can’t leave his raw food out and so now I’m wondering as he’s getting close to remission if that food overnight isn’t what caused his amps to be over 100. He’s eating the raw food well but only the pork raw food which is more caloric than the chicken. He’s eating that well actually. 2 full bowls in the am and again in the pm, but that puts him right at 280 calories a day without any of the treats he eats throughout the day. I have literally bought every wet food brand in the pet store and he takes a few bites but won’t eat even a 1/4 can. No matter the brand or the flavor. Any suggestions? Should I just give him freeze dried for that overnight feeding? It’s usually when I wake up to go the bathroom at around +5,+6.

He acts like he’s hungry all the time. I wonder if the HC was filling him up before and now that he’s mainly eating protein, he feels hungry. Oey vey

Max used to act hungry when his bg got low. The protein should fill him up I would think. Just give him more.

I thought that but then I test him and he’s not too low. I can’t give him more when he eats 2 bowls of raw that’s already 144 calories right there, which is what he had yesterday and today :nailbiting:

He was down to 15 from 17 so I don’t want to him to go up again. I’ll weight him today which means I have to go on the scale and weigh myself first which I always dread :(

I used a automatic petfeeder with a spot below the food to keep a gel pack. That kept the food cool for 2-3 hours. The other option is to put an ice cube on top, which will keep it cool, then melt and add water. But you'd still need another option for that +9 feeding, unless you fill the feeder when you get up middle of the night. He is getting a +8 or +9 meal both cycles now? With his pancreas sputtering back to business, that small feed can help bring down his AMPS.

I wouldn’t feel safe with raw food even with the ice. Are you saying you do that with raw…? In the day yes, he does but not overnight. Only so many times I can get up and fall back asleep lol. He gets treats before I go to bed at around +2 then the mini feed at around +5,+6 and nothing again until amps. I’m curious to see what will happen to his amps tomorrow if I give him LC overnight instead of the MC he’s been getting.

The frozen gel pack kept things cold for a couple hours.

With cat that are on very tiny doses, and pancreas is starting to work, that +8 or +9 meal can trigger the pancreas to work and bring down those preshot numbers. Any chance you could set up the feeder for a small LC snack around then?

I can get a feeder and do it sure. It may take him a minute to get used to it but how do I know he won’t be eating some and eating more within the 2 hours before shot time?

At this point in Bobo's journey, I wouldn't worry about the two hour time slot. That's something we tell new people who don't know their kitty's reaction to food and carbs. Once you know that, it's OK to feed later if needed, as long as it's LC, cause then you can take that food bump into consideration to know if it's safe to shoot.

Lots of people use the Catmate or Petsafe feeders. Getting one with a spot for ice cube or gel pack underneath keeps food longer.
