Good morning LL!!! Hope everyone had a good weekend! We had a lot of fun, but were glad to get back. DS did a great job with Tarragon while we were gone.

Dose increase last night. Also, Tarragon had his last dose of metronidazole Thursday and, lo and behold, the diarrhea started back up yesterday morning. This makes his second dose of metronidazole with problems coming back a few days after the last dose. I have a call in to the vet to find out where we go from here. I started the probotic in their food and bought some physillium at WalMart yesterday.

Oh wow!!! Hope you can get that problem cleared up. Has to be a pain in the rear, literally for Tarragon!! Looks like Tarragon and Champ have just about the same AMPS this morning. Maybe they'll both head for the lower decks!!

Morning! So sorry for the return of the diarrhea problem. what a bummer. I hear that probotics will help. What a nice sunny yellow for tarragon today. Maybe some blues coming up. Go Tarragon!

Gabby went through several bouts of being on metronidazole last summer. The diarrhea would clear up and then we'd start all over again. The vet ran every test in the book, including fecal cultures, and everything came back negative. It finally cleared. Every so often, she'll have one day of loose stool and may vomit but a couple of days of FortiFlora seems to get everything back to normal.

The only thing I didn't do was change Gabby's food. I still wonder if there was some food issue so that may be worth pursuing if the vet isn't coming up with answers.
 
Sienne - They ran every test in the book the last time, so I am hesitant to pay to have that done again. I started the FortiFlora yesterday and imagine it will take a day or two to kick in. This is his second round of metronidazole he just finished and I will probably try one more while the FortiFlora kicks in. Are you using it twice a day? Expensive stuff, but I will try anything at this point.
 
Hey you two!! Moonie & Copper both needed Fortiflora & it did work very well..Hope Tarragon will respond quickly to that! I just sprinkled a bit on their food & it was Good!

The psyllium is 100% natural corn husk, which is fiber. It can be used to stop diarrhea, and to make the individual more regular. It takes time to clear up the diarrhea, and it worked well for Blackie. Sending you tons of healing vines for Tarragon.
 
Glad to hear you and the DH had a good vacation in Texas. How sweet that the DS takes care of his brother while you're away, looks like he even did a curve? Or was that you?

Bummer on the poo problems, hopefully it clears up soon. Is the metronidazole used for poo problems?

I found this guide online and you might find some items in it useful. I actually bookmarked. Attie had the poopyeewes for over 6 months daily. Nothing worked until we switched to a Raw Diet and unique proteins. Sadly I think we did try everything on this list. ohmygod_smile

This is for FIV+ cats, but I swear we did everything on that treatment list too! Maybe you'll see something there to either help the vet identify the cause or if it is small/large intestine.
