We had a cardinal visit the courtyard yesterday afternoon. Gizmo spotted him and probably would have done a Garfield again the screen if the doors had been open! He was transfixed and chattering like crazy. Gabby sat on my bed staring but had no intention of moving. He is a beautiful bird with an equally beautiful, and loud, song.

What is a cardinal?.....I realise it is a bird but what sort? I have never heard of it.
When I first read it I thought you had a Cardinal visit!

@Bron and Sheba : The Northern Cardinal is a beautiful songbird, a member of the finch family. The male is "cardinal" red. Here's an article in the Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_cardinal

Hi Sienne, Gizmo sounds like he really wants to get that Cardinal! We have a pair here that stay around all winter. Rusty ignores birds, so they are safe (Rusty is a rodent man). I love the cardinal songs and notes. And yes, they are loud!!

Cardinals are beautiful, I`ve seen them down south, but not up here. Great entertainment for Gizmo, I love how kitties chatter at birds.

LOL wth both kitties' responses!!! That's quite a dip into the lagoon today, Gabby....let's surf it, OK?

I didn't know what a cardinal was either, but now I do!
What a beautiful bird!
I'm glad to hear that Gizmo enjoyed singing with that bird. :)

Thanks for the links to the cardinals Steve and Ella. They are beautiful birds and very eye catching! I love all the extra little things I am learning about other countries from this forum!:) We have finches in Aus but not the cardinals

we don't have them around here - i'd love to see one "live!"

Enjoy the bird/cat show! McGee did a face plant against the window last night. He jumped from the sofa cushion over the back of the sofa right into the window. There was probably a rat on the deck. ugh.
