Mannie was a blue kitty yesterday. :-D We managed a dip into the greens in the AM cycle, maybe in the PM... maybe? I let Mannie be after his +4, thinking he could use a semi-break from all the pokies. :cool: We have a 194 this morning. YAY! Still blue. Way to go Mannie! Now let's see if we can find those greens again today. Paws crossed. cat_pet_icon

Yesterday afternoon was fur mat removal day, much to the dismay, horror, irritation of the Nanner King. My mission: I shall win this war. Mannie's mission: no way, no how, never. Such growling :shock:, such hissing :o, such protesting :-x , so many claws :evil:, such sharp fangs :o :shock: .... but mission accomplished, sort of.... :roll: belly: check! mane: check! legs and paws: check! shoulders: check! flank: uhhh....... 1/2 check! rear end and tail base: WWIII, 1/3 check!, and back at the rear end today.... What a war, and I think I have to call it a draw. No way no how is anyone allowed to mess with his tail base..... :lol: :lol: :razz: His response to all of that, short of the vocalizations, nasty vocalizations?: Nanners. well duh.... I found him there this morning too. It's been a normal morning here: breffis, clean plate club, attempted civvie bowl raining, extended face washing, and off to the nanners for a much needed my belly is full nap. All is well in MannieLand. I hope he has forgotten the fur mat removal episode.... :roll: :cool: :razz:

Have a wonderful holiday everyone! I had hoped to hike today, but thought.... craziness to even be on the roads today. :shock: so we will explore the shoreline instead. We have another low tide, so off later to check out the usually not visible sea creatures. :razz:

My friends!!! What is up? Boy am I tired after all these parties - and the after parties! What fun yesterday. KTSS did really well yesterday too - it was good to visit our not so well friends. I hope you feel better today. Anybody wanna get together today? I am ready for anything! ~~ Mannie

Poor Mannie, you touched his tail base??? :o Luckily, you both survived! ;-) They are so funny.....when Zoe had liqui-poo I had to do a little butt cleaning - yikes - I told her, it wasn't any fun for me either! :roll: I'm not sure she believed me. ;-) ;-)

Mannie - pools open today - no thunder expected, so load up and we can all chillax around the pool. Who knows, maybe mama is grilling something good this afternoon...... :mrgreen: ~Zoe

Morning Michelle, nice report on Mr. Mannie. I bet he's glad all the fur matting is done. There's something about their tails that they don't want touched. Maggie just has this stubble, and she doesn't want any messing with the brush in that area. I agree it's best to stay away from where you think the traffic may be heavy. I am doing the same here. I hope Mannie gives you some nice blues today, too, maybe greens.

Hi Mannie, I am up for something relaxing like swimming at Zoe's pool. Sounds like fun, Maggie

MOrning Michelle!!! I can only imagine the brushing battle!!! I wonder what the Nanner King's side of it would be? :lol: :lol: :lol: I love the storytelling you do with the smilies because it is so descriptive and I can just imagine you and Mannie there battling it out....WHO will win????? Glad he finally found some respite in his nanners. He has been having really nice cycles lately.

I hope you get out to the shoreline. Yes....I bet it will be crowded there!

Mannie....it's a pool party at our house!! It's a beautiful day...not too hot, not too cool. Beans have roadrunner filets marinating for Rusty to grill! They are at our beck and call!! Bring the entire gang!

Fur mat removal....shiver. I've got two long-haired civvies who make new mats at the blink of an eye! I don't know how they do it.

Hi Sherry - so true! he was soooooo mad! the claws and the teeth were flying.... :shock: and oh yes on the poo butts - been there with Mannie too. ohmygod_smile his tush fir is so long that well.... what a mess. He was not very happy with me then either, especially since all I had was lavender scented soap. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: He spent forever trying to remove the aroma of lavender. I thought he smelled great.

Hi Iorwen - I survived, with the few claw catches and few teeth nips. What a mess - yay for longhaired cats with weird tails that collect all the fur sheds... :roll: and thanks - shore was great !

Hi Ann, and miss Maggie - Yep, fur mating done!!!! though I did find a new spot, near his tail again, that was "forming" this morning. :shock: :roll: oh great... round two coming up. Mannie doesn't really have a tail either - he's got this 4" corkscrew thing that looks like a big pom pom. all the fur winds up down there. ugh!! very hard to keep mat free. Of course he hates me even going there. :YMSIGH:

Hi Marje - oh yes on the brushing. I really need to be ore diligent with it. He used to love to be brushed... since FD - no way. weird huh. Hmmmmmm. I do wonder what his version would be. I will have to see if he is willing to go there... :lol: :lol: and yes - made it to the shore, but went early. I was headed home about 10 AM, and already all the people were starting to show.... and this is a very small beach. gonna be crowded....

Hi Amy - oh I so agree. Mannie was more or less mat free when I finished yesterday. this AM I found two new ones. wonderful..... and thanks - great day so far!

OOOOOOOO - TWO pool parties - what more could a kitty want!! SWEET - grab your stuff my friends we have lots to see and do! ZOE!!! we be there!! You have the best pool,and wow - bean service too. she is the bestest! Phew on the no thunder... see you soon - I will bring the gang. You wanna come with us later to Gracie's? she's got pool time too. Gracie - we is coming!!!! Hey - Zoe's pool is open too - you wanna come and spend some time there too? her bean is grillin' up fuds too! Hey Maggie you are on!! I will be by to picks you up - off to Zoe's, and Gracie's too. I was going to ask how Mannie was doing but after reading your post, I should ask how you are. I could picture the war, battle by battle :lol: You tell a good story! I hope Mannie continues to maintain his 'Nanner King' outlook. Have a great day today.

I've never had a long-haired cat and I'm pretty sure I'm glad after the play-by-play description of mat removal :lol: My sister used to just get her cat shaved when it got too bad, but I just can't see Mannie bald!! I'm lucky in that Champ loveslovesloves to be brushed EVERYWHERE, and not only everywhere, but against the growth of hair, too! I run the brush up and down continuously and he just lies there in ecstasy!! The base of his tail is the favorite place. Of course, he has no mats to deal with so that probably makes a real difference in his appreciation of the whole brushing thing.

Michelle, honestly woman you need to write a Mannie Nanner King Childrens Book.. If all of us can find such joy in your stories can you just imagine what a child would think.. I'm so glad that nasty episode is over and all of your body parts are intact.

The Tail Base Hood,
Specially designed for keeping Attie off guard and Momma in one piece. Attie can't see. He tends to back-up, which is fine and he growls, but he is too slow to swipe and can't bite.








He has actually become quite accustomed to the hood. It is loose enough I don't need to untie it to remove it.

Mannie and Curry have something in common.....hairy, furry, poo bottom. Last year when Curry was dx w/FD, Dr. Moss shaved part of the problem area.....Her fur hasn't grown back. When the Vet Behaviorist came to visit she asked what happened to Curry's rear. :lol:

Wonder what the other kitties think of Mannie's lavender rear. I bet there is lots of sniffing going on tonight.

Oh my gosh Michelle. I was reading that, and reliving two days ago. Clancy isn't quite as bad as Mannie. He's just as active, but sweet about it. On the rare occasion, he growls at me, I burst out laughing.
He did however hook a not-yet-clipped, claw in my wrist...and I mean it was hooked. In the process, he got a big spot shaved too close. Oops. :roll:

What's that they say about a flat day, like that? You think Mannie will come down too much tonight?
Hope you had a nice holiday. Memorial Day is a sad one though, it almost seems wrong to celebrate.

Hi Patty - YAY! Champ you are my hero! Mannie used to love to be brush - seriously. I too could "go against the grain". then one day, after FD all bets were off. Now it's WWIII. I have threaten the poodle cut, but I just couldn't do it too him. But I will get his tush done again. That actually looked kinda cute. He's primarily a dark tabby, but that area, and his belly is a creamy beige color - it looked really nice shaved. Not too sure he thought so.... :lol: :lol:

Hi Squirrel - :lol: on the Mannie the Nanner King Book. Christie once mentioned that we should do a kitty adventure book too. They've done some will and crazy things... One of these days I will put the Mannie stories together. A couple of beans have written Mannie commentaries, those I've kept - they were such fun. Celi did a Mannie the diver commentary, Christie had a rainbow bandit one. Good stuff! -- and yes, all body parts are intact, though a few are slightly mangled. just kidding.... a few scratches, but all is well. you are welcome on the rst - you have indeed done a great job with Tommy.

Hi Beth - I have got to try that! Sure would eliminate a few issues!!!! He might be happier too. THANKS! I can see where it would keep the war at bay.

Hi Tena - I love the butt shave - sure took care of the "problem". I need to have it done again, it really made a huge difference, actually he looked really good: they just did the rear end area. Now we are back to a messy bottom on occasion. I hate washing it, he hates having me do it, though he is patient, sort of. And yes - nobody likes the lavender rear - especially Mannie. :lol: :lol: --- wow on Curry - it never grew back?? wow, amazing, and poor Curry? Well at least you don't have to clean up anymore. :shock:

Hi Marje - must be - alot is not open here either. not many people on the road either. It sure looks like people are staying put this year. I almost wish I had taken off for a hike in the "desert": the passes were not crowded today at all. last year there were 4-5 hour delays. Who knew?
