Happy Sunday!!! We are sending healing vines out to Gus, Rocket, Jackson, and Tray AND any others who need them. We continue to send prayers to Sienne's DS.
Gracie seems a little more perky today and she is eating well, purring, and the two bodily functions are in place but not alot of playing this morning. I suppose it could be the change in weather....it's gotten so much hotter quickly. She's been out on the enclosed patio with Tobey and me and she's been watching birds and running back and forth across the patio. She had a lovely night last night until I overdid the carbs, again. Because she has changed so much in her response to carbs, we are having to figure this out all over again and experiment. Next time we get a low number on her, we are going to see if she will respond like most kitties.....we'll try the LC food in the 50s and HC in the 40s and see if she has changed the way she accumulates her carbs. Always a science experiment going on the Blaine household.
Newbies: we use karo because Gracie "accumulates" carbs and then zooms up. So if she is low and I give her HC, she won't show it in her numbers; so I give her more and FINALLY she will come up but she'll skyrocket so we've been trying to just use her normal LC food with a tiny bit of karo to control her drops and to bump her up a bit. But for most kitties, it is better to try and control their curve with LC food and use HC food/gravy if they are getting too low (40s).
Rough night with Teddi last night. Yesterday she ate gangbusters; she is a finicky eater and her food always has to be the right consistency, the right temp, and put in the "right" place which constantly changes. She was obviously hungry last night but wouldn't eat anything I offered her no matter what I did. So I finally mixed up some A/D and syringed her.....she gulped it down like she was starving. (I have to say our cats are all great about being syringed...we start them learning when they are babies). I don't know if she can't smell her food; if her tooth is bothering her and when she puts her head down, the tooth throbs, or what. She's on bupe and clavamox and I can't see any infection or anything different in her mouth. This morning she ate a little regular food and then I made the A/D in a slurry and put it on her plate and elevated it and she cleaned it twice so at least there is some progress. She worries me to death...such a tiny girl. She sees the vetty again this week.
And on the nature front, our momma hummingbird that made a nest on a hummingbird bauble I have hanging from the patio, hatched two babies last week or so. They are getting huge. They are so cute....they flip their little bottoms over the edge of the nest to poop  Of course, there is little, tiny hummingbird poop on our patio but it will clean off. We took one of the kitties HUGE carriers and took the top off and padded it with a bunch of blankets as hummingbird babies are notorious for the larger of the two pushing the smaller one out of the nest; it's about a 12-13' drop. I just couldn't take it if I found a baby dead on the patio. Hopefully, if one gets pushed out, it will land in the carrier and be ok. nailbite_smile nailbite_smile They are starting to get really big and it is so cool when the momma feeds them. Here's a photo of momma on the nest before the babies hatched:
Time for more
and catching up with my darling DH. So GLAD to have him home. Will check in with you all in a bit. Have a great day.
