Good morning, my dear Lantus Land Friends, and what a gorgeous morning it is here! The sun is shining and will remain doing so for a few more days and I am into my second day of a weeks vacation and I'm getting ready to go out to the Park and take a nice long hike with a few friends of mine in a few hours....can't get to much better than this! I know you guys haven't seen me around much, but believe me, I do check in and see how everyone is doing at least every other day. I may not post, but I do check!
My fur family are doing great! Spot is responding very well to .5u of insulin now for a while. He is getting mostly greens, but occasionally he throws me a blue here and there, mostly in the morning, which is normal for Spot. The weather is getting warmer so his appy isn't as robust and there are times when he goes to eat, takes a sniff, and sits there, waiting for a dusting of freeze dried chix livers or salmon. Which, of course he gets! A few weeks ago, there was some type of bug running around the house, and Spot was spared the illness, all except for a bout of runny poo, but with the help of Culturelle, he is fine now. He is enjoying sunny days out on his chair and is a very happy and content kitty. I haven't told him yet, but he will be going to Auntie Dian's camp in July while I go traveling about in a nice boat called the Carnival Pride down in the Bahamas....yes, I know, lucky Spot ;-)
Ralphie is doing much much better after his bout from the illness. It took him about a week to shake it and then all of a sudden, poof, he was back. He also had a bout of runny poo for a while, which Culturelle has help greatly. He is still on the pred, .2 ml twice daily and that seems to help him. His bg's are under 200, somewhere between 130 and 180. He walks around the house crying alot, unless he is snuggled in gramma's lap or sleeping. Appy is good...very good, side effect from the pred, so he is eating mini meals along with Spot. He's not gaining any weight, he is maintaining, which is good because he used to be 19 lbs.
Ali is doing fantastic. I was really worried about her, she got the illness worst. It took her closer to a week and a half to even start to eat. She didn't respond well to the oral med (duh, she was throwing up everything) and after a lot of pushing, substitute vet gave me some injectable med to bring home. After a few days of those, she started to bounce back. Still had problems w/her eating, so I broke down and gave her some dry food. Didn't want to do this because it took me almost two years to get her off that stuff and onto wet, but hey, she had to eat. So, here we are, a month later and she is back to being a dry food crack addict. I offer the wet, she sniffs and sometimes will lick the gravy off. Occasionally she eats it, but mostly not. I'm not making an issue out of this tho, she gained her lost weight back and is looking good. I really thought that I was going to lose her. I have to thank lots of folks from the board who helped me through this chapter of my life.
Molly the drooler is also doing well. She put on a few lbs. during the winter months, and now that the weather is good, she is enjoying her walks at the dog park or on the trail and jumping into the creek. She is a very happy, content pup and I love her so much!
I have a garage cat now...well, he's been there since after Christmas. Must have snuck in there when Mom left the garage door open and doesn't want to leave. He was a stray/feral, so I never really saw him. One day I started to see cat poo behind my car and then about a week later, I realized something was in there. I started to leave food & water and a litter box and every day the food would be gone and the litter box used. One day, I put the food close to the back door and when I exited the garage from the front and went to look in the back door, there he was enjoying his food...a nice orinch kitty. He saw me and ran away. So, last week I trapped him and took him in to get neutered, with the notion that I was going to wait until he healed and set him free out in the world. Well........I've been working with him and he is now very happy to get pets from me. I've been updating daily on FB and posted a picture there for those of you who may be interested.
Mom and I are doing great...looking forward to our cruise in July and enjoying our nice weather. My diabetes isn't to bad...I range from 160 -180...just like Ralph! Trying very had to eat right and get my exercise in and I did lose some weight....last I checked a month ago it was 6 lbs. but I think I may have lost a bit more now.
So, time to head on out of here...I hope everyone has a wonderful day! Spot sez hellow to all of his friends and sez that he misses you all and lubs you all too. Maybe I will be able to sit down for a few hours sometime this week and visit all the condos since I'm on vacation and I'm sure Spot will want to tell all of his frienz meow too.
Love you!!!!
